Your Favorite Rage Tail Baits?

Right now I'm having some luck with the Rage Bug as a trailer for blade jigs,

or more specifically the Jack Hammer.

I’m not having any luck now because my lake is covered with ice, but this summer it was the Rage Bug (cut the first 2-3 ribs off) and @Siebert Outdoors Fogy, I love that bladed jig!

I also threw the Rage Bug on a 4/0 hook TR with a pegged 1/4-3/8 weight.

They all seem like solid baits from what I've heard and seen. My favorite is the menace and its not even close.

Menace and Rage craw- The menace is a perfect trailer for the bladed jig and the rage craw, for me, is as perfect a jig trailer as you can get.  I prefer it to the bug because of its overall thinner profile...Simple claws that get great action when using a jig traditionally, and they act just like a double twister tail if you want to swim it.  Top it off with a GIANT selection of colors....  Sometimes I feel like I should branch out and try other companies products as trailers, but with a Menace, Bug, and Craw handy I'm not sure why one would need too....

Rage Bug on a swinghead ~

When they're on it, it's just stupid good.

I guess my favorite is the rage bug, but I haven't tried one I didn't like. Recently grabbed some Space Monkeys and I'm excited to try them out when it warms back up.

The Space Monkey is Big O's favorite. I fish them T-rigged with a 1/4 oz bullet weight.

Vertically on a bladed jig or swim jig when I'm trying to imitate a shad or bluegill; horizontally on a bladed jig or regular jig when I am imitating a crawdad. Colors and retrieve to match what I'm trying to imitate.

Vertical on swim jigs so it looks like a baitfish, not a craw.

Baby Rage Craw on a 1/8 oz. 2/0 Moaner Stroker  hook or a Zman Finesse Bulletz in a 1/10oz.

Amazing to me that you have ice and 45min south of you doesn't. At least other than my rod guides, lol.

Rage Bugs and Rage Craw/Lobster are all stars in my boat.

Honorable mention to the Rage Toad as well (as long as you don't buy them from Walmart).

Rage craw on a jig is money. Simply put.

Agree 100%.  Menace is pretty killer as a swim jig trailer as well.

Menace for me by a long way. Vertical on a bladed jig or a swim jig, flat on a regular jig or a swing-head jig.

Do you use the regular or magnum on the swing head?

I wasn’t kidding when I said you’d be disappointed! The deepest spot I’ve found is 10’ I believe. 10 years ago it was 14’. It’s an impoundment and filling in fast. Hopefully I can put a stop to it but the weed killers over power me.

Magnum

Rage Bug

- Pinch it

- Pull it

- Twist it

into about any variety of soft plastic you want.

I have been known to remove all of the appendages and toss it out there limbless and catch fish.

I like the Rage Tail Menace grub. T rig or shakeyhead

The Rage Tail Thumper worm in the summer.  They come 10" long, but I cut about 1.5" off, Texas rig it on a Gammie EWG 4/0 hook with a 3/16th bullet sinker and in murky water they love it.  Easy to find.

Magnum Bug produces.

Just yesterday tried out Cut-R-Worm. 6 inch. Action is unreal! Pond was 95% covered with thin ice - so not a real fishing trial. But looks incredible!

The 7" version is quite a sizable worm. Have both. We'll see what the bite is like on 'em in 2021.

Big fan of ribbon tail worms. This is a great variation.
