I've been using Okuma Helios and RTX 30 size reels for a few years and loved them.  They were as light as the Shimano Ci4, not quite as smooth but 1/3rd the price.  Last winter I lost the Helios and recently I ran over the RTX with the boat trailer.  I looked online and the RTX is $110, which I can't afford.  I bought the previous reels on sale for about $60 and can't find any for near that price.  I bought a couple of Pflueger Presidents 25s to tide me over until I find a reel I really like.  They're OK but too heavy and not as smooth as I'd like.  Does anyone have or know about an under 7 oz reel that they think I'd like?

I have a Revros LT 2000 and 2500. Like them both very much, but they are a bit heavier than what the OP is asking for.

President 25 is only 7.5oz - I like mine for general finesse work and it's smooth enough.

Only reel I have that's lighter is my Avocet RZT-1000 - which clocks in right at 7oz.

 

Problem it, you want lighter spinning reels, you gotta go to a metal frame (magnesium or aluminum), and none of those are 'cheap'. Supreme-25 is 6.6oz, but retails at a bit over $100.

Going to be very difficult to find an inexpensive reel that is also super light. I own some Daiwa Revros and Regals and for the money, they'll be about the lightest and most solid reels you'll get for around $60. I REALLY like the Regal. I can't believe how smooth and tough that reel is for the money.

I dug through the line up from Shimano, Abu, Lews, Okuma, etc. and most reels in that price range are about 1/2 to 2 oz heavier than the Daiwa.

Don't bash me for this Kastking has come out with Zephyr Spinning reel  starting at $39.99 depending on the size also have a  Zephyr SFS reel(more money).

I would never bash someone for trying something different.  I like trying different gear.  Own 27  brands of rods and 3 customs and 12 brands of reels.  Pretty much enjoy them all.

Although they’re 7.8 oz you can try the Piscifun carbon x. I own both the 2000 and 1000 and  I feel they’re both a half size larger meaning the 1000 feels like a 1500 and the 2000 feels like a 2500. I’m not claiming this to be true but they are supposed to be built alongside the Daiwa Tatula LT. They’re $75.99 but you can always find a discount code including their website offering 10% off.

Daiwa is the way to go for budget reels for sure.  The Regal is one of the lighter budget reels.  Not many sub 7oz reels under $110

Yeah, that's about what I was thinking. I have a TP1 black ML/F with a 2500-size NASCI on it that I absolutely love and don't want to put down once I pick it up. My most productive combo last year, everything else is a distant second.

 

What I envisioned doing with this Revros was something like your Avocet/Procyon.

 

I'll get around to it. It's ain't gonna go bad sitting on that shelf.

Shimano Sienna is actually a good reel for around 30 bucks. I have two 1000 size I bought seven yrs ago for crappie fishing. They've held up well

I just got a Tatula LT 2500D and it's so light that I was honestly worried that the box only had the manual in it and no reel when I got it.

Another vote for the Daiwa LT series.  They are as they are advertised, Light and Tough.

Daiwa LT is where it is at. I have a revros LT and I recommended these to a couple of buddies who both ended up settling on the regal and they talk them up to me every time we fish together. All are fantastic reels.

 

Fwiw I used to run Abu Garcia Cardinals, but most of them have worn down over the years. Also had a last king Mela II that was fine for a while but broke down on my last outing really wish that one would have lasted longer.

Okay, you have lots of votes for the Daiwa LT series.  I will tell you that the Fuego LT is my favorite spinning reel and I own several.  That being said, I recently purchased a brand new Shimano Sahara 1000 to use on a ML spinning rod.  I got it half price at a closeout sale and it would be an understatement if I said I was impressed.  It's an absolutely fantastic reel even at full price.  Just wanted to throw that out there.  It's much, much better than my Revros LT.  My favorite remains the Fuego LT but Shimano is starting to impress me.  

I have 3 Revros now. They've been my President replacements. My last President got replaced last week by a Pryocon I got a steal of a deal on. Not a better bargain spinning reel out there than a Revros IMO.
