Friday, our daughter graduated high school. On Thursday, she will also graduate from a local community college with an AA degree ! ! At the moment, her end goal is to be a flight nurse. Forensics tech is also intriguing her. 

That's awesome!!! My middle daughter will be going in to the 6th grade and she wants to be a pharmacist. We talked tonight about the steps she needs to take in the next few years to make it a little bit easier to achieve her goals.

 

My oldest son (15) and oldest daughter (12) have no clue what they want to do, so having at least one who knows what they want to do is nice. LOL

Congratz ...  My Granddaughter graduated from UNC. She is planning on taking a 6 month break, then going back for her Masters degree, so yeah, I brag on her a bunch.

Funny, she minored in forensics.

Anyway, best of luck to your daughter.

 

Luv to hear the brags. I think we all need to sing out appraises when we have a kid that turns out trying to do good.  So many of them take the wrong road in life or just quit trying the first time they hit a stumbling block.  Nobody has bragged any more than I have about my granddaughter.

Congratulations! That's not bragging, that is justifiable pride showing, and it's a tribute to both her abilities and efforts as well as your parenting.

My daughter is in what they call the bridge program. As a junior and senior, all her classes are at a local community college. She’ll get her high school degree and her AA at the same time. She’ll start the University of Southern MS as a junior.

Our son was only able to do one year of the program, we didn't find out about it in time, our local high school doesn't promote the program. We heard about it from some friends. The local high school also have very stringent requirements for participating.

When he graduated high school, he had 32 hours of college credits. For this program, 16 semester hours is required.

After learning this, (and not wanting to deal with high school girl drama) Our daughter started planning her highschool classes for freshman year, to ensure she could do the program.

Doing this helped our daughter get direct admission to the nursing school at SIUE.

Congratulations! She sounds like a go getter! University of Tennessee has a good forensics program. The “body farm” is close to my house, as you can imagine there are lots of ghost stories on the subject

I've read a couple of Dr. Bass' books. I'd love to hear him speak one day, but the timing never works out.

We were trying to get my daughter into "dual-enrollment", same as what you're calling the bridge program. She wanted none of it. She'll be graduating with her AA degree this month and is kicking herself for not doing it in HS...LOL

That is fantastic...give her my congratulations.

 

Last person I know who did that was my sister with her math baccalaureate.....back in 1985.

Good for her as you can't teach smarts.

We can however teach our children work ethic and encourage ambition. 

Sounds like she had a good foundation. 

 

Oh, both of my girls inherited the wife's brain, thankfully.

Before she goes the forensics tech route she may want to see how many job opportunities there are out there and the pay. The only reason I say that is I get a TON of applicants at my hotel who have gone that route and cannot find a job.

Congrats to you and your daughter. 
My 3 kids are very different. The oldest is an extreme over achiever , who is already a major in the air force, plays 6 instruments, and is a brown belt in brazilian ju jitsu , and is an ordained deacon. And has 3 kids and a wife.

The middle son is a plumber, commercial fisherman, and cook. He would fish 24/7, and often comes pretty close to that.

My daughter is the under- acheiver. I’ll leave it at that. She has a couple of great teenagers that Im helping raise.

I love them all the same...
