I feel like alot of people have forgotten about the older styles of lures and they have lost popularity, what's your favorite lure? My favorite forgotten lure is a tube for lmb, I like fishing it on a standard jig as I can fish it similarly but different presentation.

One lure that initially comes to mind is a 300 series Bomber.

I will still break one of these out from time to time.

What I really liked about this lure is that it seemed to be impervious to getting hung up.

Also the shape of this thing made it a scud-missile when you cast it...it goes a mile.

...and fish would hit pretty good too.

Around here. The answer will surprise you. 
 

a soft plastic lizard.  Nobody fished a lizard anymore.  I kill them on a green pumpkin 6” lizard. 

If you look through old BPS catalogs from the last century, you'll see that they had versions of most of the currently popular baits decades ago.  Newer versions probably have more empirical testing iterations performed during the development phase and possibly better paint/color schemes, but otherwise not vastly different from the older versions. I think chatterbaits are new and senkos are new(er) types of baits since the turn of the century, but there was no shortage of productive lures in the late 1900s.

Almost forgotten, but works really well. My dad's favorite lure and for good reason. A grub will catch almost any fish that is a predator in fresh or salt water.

I dusted off the 6" lizard on a light C rig last summer to get some action. But it's a killer for spawning bass. They cannot ignore it. I caught the same bedding male twice on one this spring.

Jointed minnows are amazing, and jelly worms just have amazing scent and a classic!

My PB this year was a 5 pound female post spawner guarding fry, swam 15 feet just to hammer a lizard, I am a believer

I love grubs, plus you can swim them like a keitech, that's what they did before keitechs

Yup I swim em in freshwater, and jig in saltwater. I throw giant six inchers for lingcod and its a blast.

The creme pre rigged worms are amazing and affordable, you can troll em, fish them for trout; bass, hookup rates are great!

Jitterbug and a lure from 70 years ago.  It was all plastic 1/4" diameter X 2.5" long .  had 2 small plastic blades at head.  Spun on a wire shaft.  Treble at tail. Had a dark green bass color. I was swatting mosquitoes & catching bass until it was boring.

Reel was green anodized Aluminum with a level winder.  Fantastic.   ?

I still use old  crankbaits . Rebels , Normans , Bombers , Storm ,Rapala Fat raps  .These all work well in that medium depth zone .

Chatterbait is not new, there's a blade called the Eaker shaker from the 80s.

I use a shad rap all year long. Right now on my reservoirs, a “glass” shad rap slays when bass are chasing balls of shad.
