Really!  I’m betting that all of the little fishes in that river are still celebrating!

Good for him and a monster catch, but that would not be good meat to eat even if it wasn't frozen. Pretty fleshy stuff when they get big not to mention the likelihood of mercury... I'd pass ~

Shoot……….  I’ve disproved the big fish don’t taste good theory enough times……… then again I’ve never caught a 10 lb walleye much less an 18. Big fish just have a lot more delicious meat. I think you have to kill the fish for it to be a record anyway

but I guarantee I could make a giant walleye taste great as long as people didn’t know how big it was before they tasted it

More of a factor on why I avoid eating old/big fish than the taste. I do eat meat/fish from the grocery store which probably isn't the best either so maybe that makes me a hypocrite, but still.

That probably depends on the state. I know our state record blue cat was caught not too long ago and was released alive after being weighed on certified scales.

I don't think I have it in me to kill a fish that size just to have my name on a list that very few people even read.

He looks like someone who would eat it.
