Price of motor oil...UGH!

Featured Replies

I do almost all the maintenance on my vehicles, ATV's, boat, mowers, etc.

Been tracking prices of motor oil at Wal-Mart.

Checked today...and difference from April 2021 until today...is...

Wait for it...

28% increase!

Inflation is biting everyone's wallet on almost everything, quality of life for everyone in my community is slowly but steadily going down.

Buy a brand new vehicle and get free oil changes.......wait ! vehicle prices are up as well.

Seriously though, buy oil and filters in bulk, saves a bunch.

Somebody has to pay for all the political elections ads everywhere.

Just bought $54 in oil for my F150. It takes 8.8 quarts but it’s cheaper to buy 2 5 qt jugs. Add a filter and it costs me $60 to change my own oil.

on the plus side every 9th oil change is free with the leftovers from the previous 8.

My work F150 only takes 6 quarts, I can usually do it for a little over $20

A while ago I started a thread on the price of beef.  It morphed into a political argument.  So I'm staying out of this one.

IMO, there may be more to the story than just "politics."  Supply and demand are out of whack on a lot of items and there is a severe shortage of workers in almost every field.

I bring my F-150 in for "the works" about every 8,000 miles which includes an oil change/filter.  It costs me 45 bucks but I get a discount because I take it to the service location at the dealership I bought it from.

My old SUV needs oil every other week. There’s a local chain of convenience stores that sells oil for 4.99 qt . Contrast that with shell stations which sell pennzoil for twice that.

My truck, 2003 Duramax takes 10 qts. of oil, cost's me well over $ 100.00 every 3k miles. ☹️

Don't worry, it's only transitory.?

My 2 cycle oil for my boat went up $6.00 a gallon. Was $30, now $36.

Ran to the grocery store in town to pick up a few things yesterday. They had cauliflower at $7.29 a head. No thanks.
