Not Today Pine Tar

I learned my lesson about parking under these 100ft pine trees in Wisconsin.  We are up here for our annual trip and every time I park the truck, it gets covered.  I had 2 blobs on my last truck that I could not for the life of me get off.  I am too picky about my truck to risk it.  ?

When that stuff hardens, it’s very difficult to remove.  It has the stickiness of super glue with the viscosity of maple syrup. My wife parked her SUV under one last year and I had to take it to a heavy duty pressure washing station to get it off. I told her not to park in that spot again otherwise she was going to have to remove it!

Get some Car Guys Hybrid wax from Amazon. It’s easy on, easy off. No hard rubbing. You don’t need to use very much. Follow the directions on the bottle. Put 2-3’coats on your vehicle , windows too, and the sap will come off easily when you wash the car. It works. I.use it often enough to buy the gallon container

If my truck looked that nice I'd worry about it. I've got an 05 Z71 Silverado with faded paint and plenty of rust. Hell the tar might hold her together for another 50k miles.

When the temps start dropping, I start backing my truck and trailer into the parking spot at the lake. I'm sure folks think, look at that parking job, but I've learned my lesson. The pine tar is very ugly on black.

I’ve got some huge pines but luckily not over the driveway. Sugar maples coat peoples cars more often here. The pines do concern me when the wind blows, they could crush my whole house

I don’t worry about the cover.  It’s really not designed for outdoor use but it will keep the pine tar off.  Once I cover the truck in the full sun, the sap actually gets so hard it turns into dust on the black cover and flakes off.  I’m due for a new cover since my truck is white and shows every speck of bug poop, bird poop and leaf mud.  I really need an all weather cover for as much as I use it.  I’ve patched this one a few too many times.  ??

Acetone (or nail polish remover) takes it right off, but it’ll strip your wax too.

Rubbing alcohol gets rid of it.

Miller Lite Lager Beer

I’m sure other methods work but the Car Guys is easy to use. It’s better than Rain X on the windows. Use the product that works for you
