How long had the avalanche been a team when they won the cup?

They won the Stanley Cup their first season they moved to Colorado from Quebec.  However, they were not an expansion team.  They simply moved from one city to another.  The same occurred with the Stars.  They moved from Minnesota as the North Stars to Dallas and won the Stanley Cup their first season they moved.

I grew up in Bobby Orr’s hometown. Know quite a few of his family. I still play once a week with a bunch of guys, it’s nice to get out for a good sweat, and shoot the bull with the guys after.

Lol it is kinda weird that the four teams remaining are all from the desert or the swamp.  Not exactly traditional "hockey" country.  The ice crews are gonna have their hands full keeping the ice in top shape in those locations the next few weeks.  Ice does not hold up well in hot or humid weather.

panthers and jaguars both almost made the Super Bowl their first or second year, not sure why expansion teams are good out the gate

I think with hockey now it’s because teams can only protect so many good players. They aren’t building from the ground up so to speak. I am not sure how the NFL does it.

No, the North Stars moved to Dallas in 1993 and didn't win the cup until 1999.

Resurrecting this dead thread to say Go Stars! Lol

Even with roope hintz and Joe pavelski being basically invisible they're still rolling. Look out if they bring in Bourque or Bichsel from the black aces squad. Would probably be a shot in the arm for an already solid team. I am sad about what happened with Val Nichushkin. Of course decision-making is important but addiction doesn't really take time off. I met him in his draft year, he was such a nice kid and it's really a shame what's happened with him

I'm rooting for the Stars too Disco. My sweetie is rooting for the Panthers. Both are looking good to advance (3-1).

Beating the Vegas Loopholes was an excellent experience. I would love to see them wrap up this Colorado series in five. I've watched the Stars since I was a kid and it's been nice to see them be good for a while recently

My bracket has the Panthers over the Stars in the final.

I correctly picked every single first round winner.  Right now the Canes and Oilers have work to do if my second round is to remain perfect.

Aint gonna happen buddy.  They blew their energy in the first round against the Leafs.  The Panthers are the superior, rested squad.

I do think Dallas is a bit beat up after the first two series, that was a rough path. But they have such forward depth that it almost doesn't even matter - losing Roope Hintz is primarily a defensive problem because he adds a lot of speed and a strong stick. I also think it's noteworthy that they basically did those first two rounds with 5D. I think Alex Petrovic and Lian Bichsel may be the shot in the arm the defense needs. Adding a 6th D definitely kept the Avs from going 7 games on us. I hate how they've Honka'd Nils Lundqvist but at this point you need that spot to be eating some minutes and they've made that impossible for him

Tell you what, to have both the Mavericks and Stars both playing in the conference finals is pretty impressive.  The American Airlines Arena staff is gonna be busy the next couple weeks.

Apparently its the first time since 2003 that a dual-purpose arena has been used for both hockey and basketball in the conference finals.

Memorial Cup tournament is on right now in Saginaw MI.

My hometown London Knights are looking good.
