Sure seems like it.

So do we think this would be a different story SMB weight wise if they were fishing in say, the end of July ?

Bet those 4's would be 'worth' quite a bit more then . . .

MLF timed this derby perfectly, I agree with you, if this thing was in July it would be a totally different story.

I'm glad MLF picked this time frame, lake's not gonna show out any better than right now.

  • It's been 30 days and not a peep in this deal. Guess we have our answer . . . .  I am not totally surprised but am a little disappointed. A-Jay

Adrian Avena only has 4 fish ~ 3-11 lbs back of 1st place.

Lots of time left - I think he has the most realistic chance of getting it done.

If the conditions change at all, this might already be over.

Also, Hope we can find out what hook Spencer Shuffield is using and

losing all these fish on.

I'd like to peruse  my own inventory and

if I have any I will be disposing of them directly.

Bet it's a Trokar . . . .

Oh Boy ~

Avena's got 5 today.

Gives him 57-8 for the Championship

Hurt myself just typing that.

I think that's a 5-12 average

WTH !

That's the most awesome looking SM I've seen caught in a really long time, wow it was about to explode.

Gosh I love fat Bass and I cannot lie

And there it is ~ CONGRATS to Adrian Avena

It's his 1st Bass Pro Tour Win.

Seems like it was a long time coming.

I'm not a giant fan of bed fishing deals,

but I have to admit, raining buckets up here all day

and I did enjoy seeing ALL Those Giant Brown Bass.

They're on to St Clair in a couple of weeks.

Absolutely an amazing derby.  I saw Jordan Lee say something about catching 19 lbs and almost coming in last in the Knockout Round.  The overall weights of all the anglers is incredible.  It wasn't just the top 2 or 3 and everybody.  They all were wrecking em.

Anyone can fish catch and release for bass aside from one county in the state. Catch and keep starts 6/15.

2 counties. St Lawrence and Jefferson counties. Thats my old stomping grounds. Recently moved to Clinton county. Surprised to see that bass season opens on the second Saturday of June instead of the 15th on Lake Champlain. Fished a small tourney Saturday. It's getting to be that you need to double check the regs every time you go fishing! Lol

I stand corrected.  Basically Region 5, right?  Otherwise there would be pro events in spring on the Larry.

Living in PA its not often I see Pros, on the way home from our club's tournament I saw party Marty Roberson on the highway, in fact passed him twice after dropping off another angler.

I'll take all those Trokars you're getting rid of.  I lose plenty of fish on other brands too, so it won't make as big a difference to me.

I'm humbled by the greatness of girth on this fish, my lord what a specimen.

It was like 5.3-5.5

Apparently there’s some fuss about not verifying sight fish being caught in the mouth and some fish being weighed multiple times in a single day

Tak had a 5min "argument" with his marshall about wanting to go right back up to a fish he just caught, and catch it again ?

Some of these dudes were certainly catching the same fish twice.   So much commentary about "oh this is fresh one, he's pulling hard, he's got a clean mouth, etc."

One guy unhooked two 5lb+ fish before bringing them into the boat (the fish still in the water) on camera.  Why on earth would you do that if the fish was legally hooked?

And yes...The same fish were being caught multiple times a day and day after day.  It looked great but it was sort of a joke of a tournament.

Anyone else hear Luke Dunkin's Low Budget Live podcast yesterday? Four of the top 10 angler's are under investigation by mlf for cheating. One who has already been mentioned in this thread is in trouble for catching fish outside the mouth, unhooking the fish out of the cameras view. Other's for catching the same fish twice. There's a rule stating that during a bedding fish tournament, the same fish can't be caught twice. Kathy Fennel has sent out letters to everyone that received a check informing them that the standings may change. Luke reads the letter on the podcast. It's not an  especially long podcast if you haven't listened.

I caught that at least once. I thought he said he was hooked himself when he scooped it up.

According to the podcast it happened three or more times, same angler.

The rule is that the same angler cannot catch the same fish more than once a day.  What they were doing was stopping way short of a bed, blind casting to it, catching the fish, releasing it, then going to the bed and sight fishing the same fish.  It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

Lame.
