I'm looking to buy a new pair of sunglasses but stuck between Oakley and Costa lenses. Which do you prefer and why?

I did the Oakley's and had Starbucks coffee the same day. ?

I have both, and the Costas are better. I see things in the water with my Costas I never saw with my Oakleys. 

 

 

I've got both too.  For fishing specifically, I like the Costa better.  If for general use, then they are pretty equal.

I have Smith, Costa, and Oakleys.  I just like the fit and weight of the Oakleys best.  I also don’t like wearing glass lenses while fishing.  I have heard some stories of eye damage.  I truly don’t see an advantage with the Costas.  

Haven’t used Oakleys, but I love my Costas. 

Just a heads up. Costa was bought out and their customer service has gone to crap. They want $120 to replace glass lenses. I had to pay $65 for plastic lenses and do the repair myself. They won’t replace just one lense making you buy the pair. 
 

My next pair will be Bajio. The OG Costa crew started it several years ago and they have a patent on lenses that block more blue light. Plus they have the Costa customer service of old.

Anyone know of a quality independent brand?  Is Bajio?

i have a giant head.  Bajio's - none of them fit my giant head.  but the glass and plastic are amazing.

My Costas, after a couple of years, had the nose piece fall apart.  Now the ear pads need regluing.

I bought a pair of Smith Optics with the bifocal lens.  I love them.  No need to keep readers on me for knot tying.  It takes a bit of getting used to but, I like them.  I use my Costas for driving...

Right now I'm using Costa's on the water.  I don't think the frames are as comfortable as my Oakleys, but the glass is better and the warranty is way better.  The customer support from Oakley in the past has been terrible and I'll probably never buy another pair.

 

I've tried on some Eyesurrender, Baijo's and Smith's but they don't fit my head.  Seems like everybody they make fishing glasses for must have a huge head.

Maui Jim are very good aint owned by Lux.

I actually just filed a claim with Costa to send mine in for the same reason, all the rubber is falling apart. By the sound of it I'm getting a brand new replacement pair for free. We'll see if that's what actually happens but it might be worth a try for you.

 

I just bought a pair of Maui Jim's with the glass lenses and they are lighter and less bulky than my Costas and the glass is super clear. I haven't gotten them on the water yet but so far so good.

 

I've owned many pairs of Oakleys through the years and to me the Costas and my initial impression of Maui Jim are way better. I won't buy anymore Oakleys.

Maui Jims are going on 6 years now, no complaints.

I stay away from all that name brand stuff.   These bad boys cost $8 at a convenience store.   And look at the fish I can catch when wearing them.  LOL

 

Since I wear tri-focals and can't afford prescription sunglasses, I found these over-the-glasses ones on Amazon for $17...so far working great

Over the years I have had Oakley, Smiths, Serengetis, and Costa. I didn't care for the  Oakleys. The lenses scratched easily and they didn't give the best on the water experience.  The Serengetis were great for driving but not so much for fishing.  The Smiths have been fantastic except for the black pair I had with the gloss coated frames. The coating came off after a year. Smith sent me a new pair. Their service was great. The Costas have also been great. I purchased a pair of the Blackfin Pros and so far, they have been the best yet. 

I prefer Costa's lenses, especially for fishing.  

I have the Oakleys for both shallow and "normal" fishing. The blue lenses I wear are for fishing, but the green or emerald colored lenses are for shallow water fishing. I think they work great. 

 

I also get discounts on Oakley from US standard issue's site for military and fist responders etc.

Same here, I have them both.. went for the largest frames on Costas and are not as comfortable or light as my Oakleys.  Costa's lens are great but polarized prizm lens are amazing. 

 

I will not buy Costas again. 

there is no way.  zero chance, that some glasses i like and fit my head will work on someone elses head. 

 

we could discuss lens merit alone maybe.   Costa Glass is heavy and falls off my face.  like if i look at my feet.  brrpth..clack.  they hit the floor.  

Oakley vs. Costa is like Chevy vs. GMC.  

Over the years, I've tried Oakley, Smith, Costa and Maui Jim.  I've stuck with Smith (ChromaPop lens) and Maui Jim (HCL bronze lens).

Seems like most people arent liking Oakleys, but if i were able to get a pair or a couple pairs of new Oakleys for $70? would they be worth the investment at that price? I have wanted to try polarized glasses for awhile but they are usually very high priced so if anyone can tell me if these are worth it on sale i would appreciate it.
