I want a dedicated casting rod for the 5” Senko. I have a Steez CT SV TW 70HL reel for the rod. I only plan on using this rod for Senkos, and thats it. Whats the ultimate rod for what I want? (Exact model please so I dont get the wrong one) Budget? $700.

Depending on how weedy the water is I’m fishing,  I use either the Loomis NRX 853C or 854C.

i throw a weightless T-rig Senko.."the yamamoto flavor" on my Defender p5 X-bites all the time.  

 

 

Personally I’d keep it simple and go with a Daiwa Steez AGS Casting Rod 7' Med-Med Hvy-SMT.  Good luck with your decision @0351 and good fishing 

with your budget I would have a custom rod made, that equals NRX+ 902C. The longer 7’5” rod will cast the 5” Senko longer distance and allow you to control larger bass around the boat.

NRX 893C, Conquest 842C (thing is sweet), Conquest 783C, or applicable steez 

The 5” Senko is 3/8 oz and cast fairly good except it’s made of heavy salt soft plastic that tears easily. A rod that can cast live bait a good distance is more appropriate and why the 2 power longer rod is ideal.

If the OP isn’t concerned with longer casting the 842 would be good OTC.

There are, they are hard to find, a kid I took fishing their caught a double digit right in front of me. My best is 4-5lbs… so far! ?

If the Loomis Conquest 842C is anything like my old GLX 842C senko chuckin’ machine only better, I’d like to add to my earlier post 

What makes a “great” senko rod? I’m surprised I didn’t hear a dobyns suggested?

I tend to fish most wacky rigged senkos on spinning gear, just a personal preference. In the casting realm of things, I do use a 802C NRX with a Steez CT for weightless senkos and it's pretty awesome.  I like to use this rod from my kayak in tight spots, skipping around docs, and pitching small jigs.  I also use this set up for shakey head worms on a light jig head and small paddletails. For weighted Texas rigged senkos, I like the 803C and especially the 853C. 

 

 

 

I use a GLX 843 MBR with a superline hook 3/0 and 30lb braid to 15lb leader. Sometimes an IMX-Pro 852C JWR if there's less cover/clear water, 20lb braid to a 12lb leader. I like it more than the GLX version 852 because it's slightly stiffer.

I applaud you.  Another, less moderated, forum I belonged to used to have a button, 'Return to Forum Without Posting'.  After that button went away with some software change, members would just post 'RTFWP'.  It was a good way to exercise your 'right' to retort, while biting your tongue.  I wish all social media could adopt that button....and would hope it could catch on....even a little

I've been using an NRX852. Great for both weightless and Neko rigged Senkos

Senko’s swim down through the water column unimpeded on slack line. Spinning combo’s do this better then casting!

Meh. Just peel some line and you'll be fine. Use what you like.

 

Unless you are fishing weightless senkos off 30 foot ledges I guess. Then use spinning?
