Tournament cheaters boat up for auction

I’m not aware of how it works. When the boat was seized, do the cheaters get any of the money from the auction? That boat cost close to $120,000 new. That’s a pretty hefty fine by itself, not including court costs and DNR fines.

I believe they had to pay some kind of retribution and/or fines.

They were also banned from participating in any fishing tournaments in the state of Ohio if my memory is correct.

 

The bigger issue is how they intend to rejoin society.  Everyone knows what they did.  Good luck sending your kids to school or going to work after that type of debacle.

Nope.  All of the proceeds go back to the government, and do not count towards the fines.  Like when a car is seized in a drug bust. 

 

Looks like it's already up to $80k with 26 days left.

and I think were banned for life getting an Ohio fishing license.

You gotta throw in a few scoots for the provenance. 

And just to think the forfeiture owner still has to pay the boat loan too!
