Green pumpkin/ black blue color baits

Featured Replies

Anyone have any success on baits that are a blend of black/blue and green pumpkin? All the brands call them different names. I’m a minimalist. And I fish black and blue or green pumpkin a lot. So I was wondering about the combined color as a do all for both as trailers and Texas rigs.

Yes, especially in d-bombs and beavers.  I like to think of them as my standard color, then deviate from there when I think the situation calls for it.

I am Not a minimalist ~ not even close.

But I do fish GP, BB and the combo GPB.

For example, I use the trailers above on the wiggle wagon.

(can't use the actual term)

For me it goes like this:

When they'll eat GP,

they'll usually eat GPB too.

When they'll eat BB,

they'll usually eat GPB too.

When their eating GPB,

I just keep fishing it.

Thanks guys. The mixed color combo just seems great. Best of both worlds. And it would be less plastics to carry around

Zoom calls it Okeechobee Craw.  Top half green pumkin and bottom half blue.  It used to come only in the trick worm.  I've been using it for a couple of years and even caught a fish.

I use Okeechobee Craw chunk trailers from NetBait. My favorite color trailer for when I’m flipping a jig in clear water.

Literally the color and baits I was looking at haha!! Thank you

I love the Free Rig, which means I love the Dolive Beaver. And one of my best performing colors is exactly what you describe: Green Pumpkin belly with a Black Blue Flake top. It's called Gorimiso Black. I also use the same color with the Dolive Stick.

@RRocket Oh man that dolive stick has been on my radar for a while, just haven't got around to it. What's your favorite ways to rig it?

IMO, the Dolive Stick is incredibly under rated. It's extremely versatile and fills more than one role in my bag.

It rocks more than a Senko on the drop IMO. So this is a Senko replacement for me. With an EWG. Or Wacky it. The first video shows the Fat version, but the regular ones behave the same.

Then with an EWG, you can fish it weightless like a fluke. And any time you add in a pause...it does the rocking thing on the fall. A good example is shown in second video. On the larger Sticks, you can tune how it drops via 3 different hook exit points.

I fish it on a Free Rig in a manner that combines both techniques.

And because it's a pintail design, I also use it as a bladed-jig trailer.

There's just so many ways it can be used.

Okeechobee works works well for me, as does watermelon pearl. It’s a watermelon top and a dirty white bottom.

Thanks everyone. Gonna order a bulk bag of baby D bombs in super bug then. I think the lil over 3.5 inch bait will do great in the pressured waters I fish as a T rig and jig trailer. And maybe if I ever get into all the free rig business

This. I love the black and blue/green pumpkin mix.

It's quite common for crawfish here have black/blue/green pumpkin color combination. Even if there aren't many baits with that combination, I'd definitely try to make some my own.

Yes.  I started building this jig because one of my go to soft plastics right now is a Superbug Dbomb.

Usually OKcraw is a GP/Saphire blue w blue flk or GP/GP heavy blue fleck.

Looks like Okechobee 420, without the blu flk on the dark watermelon.

Yes, I love Strike King's "Bama Bug" color, which is exactly what you described.
