If you had a bass boat, FFS, SpotLock, and a bag of chips, do you think you'd catch more?

My Lawd,

If I caught more fish then I already do,

I don't know what I'd do with myself 😁

This thread has generated a lot of interesting comments.  I’m puzzled by the fact that no one is talking about what type of chips (brand, color,  type) catch the most fish. 🤔

I take my friends son fishing often and he always brings tortilla chips . He throws them toward carp and I’ll be darned but they eat them

  • I just returned from my two-hour fishing trip. Yeah, it was frosty, but I caught a fatty too. Not as fat and long as your profile pic bass, but she still stretched my string!

  • I'd love to have SpotLock on Bass Trek...it'd probably help me so much. Right now, I have to work the TM manually to keep an approximate position.   FFS - na....IMO it's cheating.

I have a boat, FFS, spot lock, and several bags of chips (although not all together). I believe I catch more fish because of the spot lock than I do the FFS. I thought the FFS was cheating, until I go

This year my normal trip would be 5-10 bass and I don't recall the last time I skunked unless it was April 5th when I was breaking in the motor on an awful cold spring day on a new lake (I still caught crappie that day via FFS).

Well you know what they say about hubris.  First skunk I can remember.  And on my home lake no less.  I forgot the chips.  Meant to grab them but was too hurried to get out the door and forgot.  Clearly that was the problem.

I need a bigger boat now, one with a spare compartment just to hold the Costco variety pack of Doritos.  Then I’ll never be without.

I'm launching tomorrow morning for two hours and I'm worried I'll be skunked too. It's going to reach 32 degrees tonight and it'll be windy tomorrow morning, so I'll likely stick close to shore for cover and safety. It's harder to catch bass when I can't roam to find them, but I will take my Ruffles because they have ridges and bass orient to ridges.

JDM chips…😂😂

Anyone know how much the tariff on shredded squid JDM chips is? Are they on digitaka? I tried japanlureshop but couldn’t locate them.

Maybe. IDK. I fish from a kayak and I think that stealth has something to do with the amount and size of the bass I catch. Sure, you can basically chase a big fish with FFS. Does that equal more bites? Hard to say. But I don't even have a depthfinder. My temp gauge is my hand or foot. And I fish a lot of shallow areas that are grassy in warmer weather.

But what kind of chips?

I caught the fatty in my profile pic after the first night of freezing temps. I had to dip my hands in the water to keep them from being numb. I had a feeling about a certain spot and I paddled straight to it and caught that bass on a War Eagle spinnerbait as soon as the first cast hit the water.

I'd definitely eat more chips.

Spotlock would be an absolute godsend for me, FFS would be awesome, a boat would probably be more hassle than what it's worth for me at this point in my life, and a tube of pringles could serve as a pretend monocular for when I'm getting skunked. Sounds like a good deal!

I just need to keep my rotund gal away from yours because yours will think mine is a snack.

A bass boat outfitted as described by the OP would not be of very much use to me in my home waters.  They are simply much too small.  Of the eleven bodies of water within a 30 minute drive from me, only 2 would allow me to even run the big motor at anything above idle.  Which to me removes the single biggest advantage of a bass boat:  mobility.  I can’t say much about FFS as I have no experience with it or any sonar for that matter.  Maybe it would help maybe it wouldn’t.

That being said, a proper bass boat would certainly be useful for me to fish big water.  Lake Erie is a 3 hour drive and I make a trip to MacGregor Bay on Lake Superior every August.  Not to mention the Ohio river as well.  I think it would help in those locations for sure.

Not for me. A bass boat can definitely help but…. When I had one it was way too easy , desirable , and downright fun to move around looking for fish.

I “ downgraded “ to a smaller jon boat , 2.5 horse kicker, and trolling motor. I went back to fishing smaller waters and have caught thousands more bass than I ever did when I had a bass boat.
I don’t think I’d care for the other 2 because it would change the way I fish . And I’m happy and content with my fishing already. Probably couldn’t afford them anyway.

I’ll take the chips though 🤠

I spend most of August thru October chasing pelagic bass on my home lake.  FFS and spot lock would definitely get me more fish during this time.  And if it were truly all the bells and whistles I might take it on the big water to up my smallie odds.  Chips are great too!

I ate a box of smoked Gouda cheeze-its for dinner. They were pretty good.

Also, not sure of all you canadiens here, but yall might be onto something with yalls “all dressed” flavor.

Speaking of Canadian crisps, Canada's Lay's Hickory Potato Sticks are my all-time favorite.

We can’t get stuff like that down here in AL Katie. However, when I lived in NH, it was like a different country… 😂😂

That picture is about 6-7 years old. The old gal looks like it ate any and everything that swam by. No wonder I believe I caught it twice. I wish I had caught it again because it had the potential to be my PB eating like that.

Same here. Florida has great diversity. Orlando has a fantastic Asian shopping area east of downtown Orlando centralized around Colonial and Mills Ave.

Awesome shopping and restaurants. One does not have to fly around the world for it. Its all right there in central Florida. The world has arrived in central Florida.

My kids have picked it up from me over the years. From loving sushi and Thai food to strange foods from all over the world like masago by the spoonful's. My 12 year old son's favorite sushi is bar BQ Japanese eel rolls fresh and hot right out of the oven. But for snacks a family favorite are the seaweed chips. Other than heavy on salt sometimes, fairly healthy eating. And good too.

Not sure how they would "like" the squid chips. Maybe if I didn't tell them what it was- no problem! I need to go shopping now. I'll see if I can slip some squid chips in on them...
