Kayak cheating

Featured Replies

Looks Jacob Housman had a cut out kayak in his boat and entered kayak tournaments using his boat. He would take pictures in the fake kayak.  Anyone else hear of this?

Yes.  He was the loudest defender of another accused cheater a couple months ago.

I think the event he got busted for was a low payout online tournament.  Unreal.  CPR may be in real trouble without some truly enforceable changes.

This dude needs to be black-listed from ANY tournament - I don't care the species. Ban him from bass, he'll just move to walleye/pike/crappie and continue his ways. People that blatant won't change.

I know he recently won 10k at a tournament in the susky too.

Treat him just like the walleye guys

It’s ridiculous, but a very ingenious way of cheating.

Just seen that.

^^This.

There has to be consequences for cheaters.

I guess it does put the kayak vs boat debate to rest. Boats are clearly better if you have to use one to cheat 😂

Amazing what people will do to cheat!

Tom

Check out this picture.

Near the back of the boat you can see the green "kayak".

What a DISGRACE to himself and his family.

Plain sorry as all get out.Disgraceful

If you're going to cheat, cheat SMARTER.

At least sit down on your fake kayak.

Otherwise he has invisible legs.  SMH

It's bad enough to be a cheater, but a stupid cheater is even worse.

Not a good way to live life.

Since he had a live well to hold it captive, I wonder how many times he used that fish?

Or if kayakers do that with a net or leash ?

or how many fish are dead or close to dead

there are photo judges but clearly things slip by them

TnRiver,  It's a pretty easy bust spotting a double.  The markings are usually pretty obvious.  If they are in the running and you/tourney director can see the pictures.  I will admit it is easy to double submit a fish during the heat of a tournament.  When the bite is on and your catching them good and they are schoolie fish of mostly the same size.  I have learned over the years to put a junk picture between catches.  I normally take at least two pictures and check them before releasing the fish. Take the pic's, back into the net with the fish in the water.  Check the picture/s making sure I have my identifier, nose is against the bump, full fish is visible and marking on the board are clear.  Trying to submit fish on the water looking at a cell phone to determine which fish you submit while your in the sun while wearing polarized glasses and you might have 7-15 different fish can be challenging to get right.

Last comment is it is a Corinthian sport.  If you get caught cheating or if even others think you are cheating.  Your going to get shunned by a jury of your peers.

It gets worse with this guy.

He submitted the same fish in multiple tournaments. He was also DQ'd at the Bassmaster Kayak event on Susky for fishing out of bounds. He was caught catching fish out of fish ladders on the river.

@Kayak Kozthe dudes a susky native and knows better. Just a cheater. All kinds of stuff is coming out about him. How true some of it is only him and god will know.

Everything that Jacob Housman has ever claimed is now suspect. The stench will linger a long, long time because the Internet never forgets.

So, I went to Jacob Housman's Instagram page and there isn't a single critical comment, but hundreds of comments praising him and on one post, he said he caught 157 smallmouth in a day. I want to be happy for him, but he can't be trusted.

I just read the article on this. Wild stuff for sure and it makes me think if these people put more time into the sport instead of finding ways to cheat. They might actually have success.

@Swamp Girl he’s a dweeb. Like not even the gray area dude. Full send into cheaterville is what he did. Going that far you know he will lie, cheat, steal, beg, borrow. Not just in fishing but, in his personal life. Your moral compass has to be spinning in circles to even remotely do what he did.

@Texas Flood the only thing he is good at is fluffing his ego.

This could be done on the Umpqua.  Ok maybe not 157...but you could catch a hundred in a day for sure.

@Rockhopper it doesn’t matter what is possible. It matters that everything is in question because of how blatantly  he lied/cheated.
