Fuego

SLX

Last gen Tatulas are around.

Right now you can get a Lew's Speed Spool on sale for just over that. I'd argue the similarly priced Shimano or Daiwa options have it beat at full price, but at this price that would probably be my first choice. The Bass Pro Shops Pro Qualifier is normally $100 but it's also on sale right now and I'd argue that one is a good option at $80.

Both of these are aluminum frame reels. The drag on the Lew's is a little better from the looks of it but either way those are the two I'd be looking at if that was my budget and I would avoid getting a graphite frame reel at this price level since these two options are available.

I'd definitely look at the used market.  My best buy was a $250 reel for $65 in excellent condition.  This reel was the blue Patriarch XT.  Some reels are very underrated.  Not many are willing to consider Pflueger reels.  I have an old Trion on a HF rod that is an excellent caster and it has an aluminum frame if I remember correctly.  Newer models don't.

Okuma is another often overlooked brand.  Really like the ones I have.  Especially the Helios Air.

Another fine reel is the original Revo STX.  A second generation Revo Premier (or STX) would also be good options.  I believe the Gen1 STX and Premier are magnetic brake while Gen2 are dual brake.   I know nothing about the 3rd or 4th generation Revos.

Closeouts can make for excellent buys.  My best was a $200 reel for $98 shipped.

Bite your tongue - I've got three Patriarchs, all bought used for under $100 each....favorite reels in my arsenal.

I really liked the Revo S and STX reels, and still have some Gen3 versions. The brake systems changed from model to model with the S being Centrifugal, the SX being mag, and STX being dual braked.

Gen4 saw some significant changes I personally didn't like. All of them got heavier with a change to brass gears, and the braking changed. SX went to dual braking and STX went to there variable centrifugal,.... IVCB6 I think they call it. I never liked those brakes. I've never bought any more Revos after they released Gen4.

Some people do though! Worth checking out clean used models, but just know things changed between the generations so be sure what you're looking at, so you know what to expect.

At $100 new.... I think I agree with Fuego or SLX. I wasn't a fan of the Lews Speed Spool,.... Especially it's drag.

$100? Look for a used reel. Check here or other fishing websites. For new, Okuma is on sale at FishISA today (12/8). Hard to beat an SLX at $100. I’ve got a couple and a couple of the speed spool lfs. from Lews. I’ve had zero issues with either.

Kastking has some decent reels that will fit into budget. I have a number of them.

Just doing a quick search came up with a few options and I didn’t search very hard either. Bass Pro Shop has their JM Carbonlite Technique along with the Seviin GF reel each around $110.00 and St Croix is offering Daiwa’s Fuego at $100.00 or Daiwa Tatula CT’s for $120.00 or the Daiwa Tatula X 100 for $130.00 all of which have been discussed on this site. Best of luck and keep us updated on your purchase if you do pull the trigger. I will also add as  I’ve said it before the Shimano SLX is the only reel I regret selling and although I replaced it with a SLX 71 MGL I would still buy a SLX if I was looking for a $100.00 reel.

There are several online retailers offering the Tatula CT for a hundred bucks.  That would be my pick.

Fuego CT - Tatula CT....only difference is the T-Wing on the Tat - otherwise identical. Some don't like the T-Wing.

This, super easy to work on them too and many parts are interchangeable with Daiwa's other lineups. Plus the magforce brakes at that price point are hard to beat.
