I rarely buy coffee out. it is expensive to make that a habit or any type of routine. so I home brew.

for the last decade, I get up in the morning, do my things, and just before I jump into the shower, I get a electric kettle boiling. get dressed and make two coffee pour overs and take one to my wife. it would be much better if I had one of those fancy pour over purpose built kettles with the long pour spout - for targeted and controlled pouring. but nope. my cup is okay.

my family is coming to visit and I cannot make multiple cups, or do I even want to. so I dove into the rabbit hole and studied coffee makers. SCA certified? the heck is that?. there is an upper tier of coffee makers. I bought one. USED! cleaned it up. descaled it, and finally made a pot of coffee. I was not expecting any thing special. but it is profound. no burnt flavors. perfect temp. I even taste floral notes!! so good.

the magic is proper water temp. proper extraction time, and for me, no hot warming plate to overdo things. I even weighed my beans. :D. not something I will do all the time but I have a visual on what my load of beans should look like.

introducing my new coffee cooker. the Technivorm Moccomaster. from the most coffeeingest-drinkingest place on earth..the Netherlands. totally rebuildable. all parts are available and unchanged. I can send it in for repairs easily, so I dont have to subscribe to the disposable mindset. and a single on/off switch. no multiple modes to scroll thru.

I went through a coffee “phase” and we had a fancy Italian unit that would make espresso, foam milk, etc. In my research, the biggest factor was the water temp used to steep followed by bean quality and grind size. I found myself drinking waaaaay too many expressos so we scaled back to a quality drip maker and Tim Hortons grind. I’m pretty happy with the results. So much so, I’ve been known to take my coffee setup with me on trips. 😂

I used to have a Bunn brand version, the higher end one. It failed after a couple years. I now just use the el cheapo Mr Coffee versions. When they fail, a $30 replacement is much easier to swallow than a $150 version.

I used my coffee maker almost every day of the year too.

My main is a $25 Black & Decker...I do have a more expensive French Press for the occasional power-shots.

I use a French press. It sounds fancy. It's literally the simplest and easiest way to make coffee.

I rarely drink coffee any more.

However, I make my wife a fresh cup every morning, without fail.

Been through many methods.

She has settled on the ceramic pour-over deal.

Been brewing with a Technivorm Moccomaster for about 20 years. Still going strong.

Hardest part is finding good coffee.

Cheap Mr Coffee maker and Cafe Bustelo.

I have a Bunn drip, an aeropress, a glass French press that I’ve had for 30 years and somehow haven’t broken, and I have Cometeer pods in the freezer. I just don’t have a pour over…yet. If I had to go to one I’d take the French press because I can control everything and still make a whole pot in a reasonable amount of time. If you’re just making a cup that aeropress is fantastic. I use Counter Culture beans of various types almost exclusively.

I like my coffee, black and bitter. I have a friend that’s into all that fancy coffee and weird presses. I tried it, it ain’t for me. Most of the time being the wife drink instant coffee, great value brand hundred percent Colombian. I make coffee on the stove in a cowboy coffee pot on occasion too.

I keep it simple and roll with the Bunn. I drink 32oz of Black Ink Coffee's Sumatra every morning. The Bunn is fast, consistent, reliable and makes delicious coffee.

I just quit drinking coffee after 20 years of daily bean juicing - I was a fan of Mr coffee and then later on I got a pour over deal that I really liked. Ultimately my heart and my energy levels end up doing better without it. Who knew!? Bean on friends!

I used to drink coffee all day long. When it was 90deg outside and everyone runs for a beer or ice water I’d throw a pod in.

Caffeine doesn’t bother me, never has.

I’ve been known to have a double espresso before bed

Now in my somewhat advanced years I slowed it down but still enjoy a homemade espresso in the evening

A percolator and Black Rifle Tactisquatch is my favorite way to make coffee, but usually I can’t wait that long .

I never thought I’d be quitting but honestly - at least in my case - it’s nicer than having it which is rare when it comes to vices. 😂

Sometimes we just get so locked in to a ritual we don’t stop to ask is it really helping us and that turned out to be coffee for me this year. I may not quit forever but I ain’t doing the daily IV lifestyle anymore.

I recently had to cut back on my coffee intake. I no longer have any morning coffee, as I think it contributes to my migraines. And I only usually have a cup or two in the evening. (Caffiene never seems to keep me up at night.)

I've found since cutting back, I actually enjoy my coffee more. Who knew?
