Hah, I have spent so much time learning Daiwa’s braking systems that it’s hard to want to branch out.

For srs....I'll let him put that Steez on the M/MH AGS rod next time we go out. :D

I do have an Aldebaran 50, but the Steez is a far better fit for the PA

I am really curious to compare the PA  611M+ with the M/MH AGS.

I resisted for a while, but the lure of that silly handle became too much for me.  Also the Steez needed a rod so I picked up a Poison Andrea 611M+ for it to be friends with.  The rod is more of a "MH-" and favors the upper end of it's somewhat optimistic weight range.  It loads up just OK with a weightless Trickworm (1/4oz w/ hook) but really shines with a 1/4oz swimjig w/ 3.8" FI (~7/16oz).  I tried using a ~1oz glidebait on it and while it seemed to load and work it just fine I was too chicken to do more then easy sidearm lob casts. The taper/power is close to a 783c GLX, but with a bit less backbone and a bit stiffer of a tip.  That is my one beef with the rod, I wish the tip was a bit softer.  I think it's going to be a great all-around rod for most 3/8-3/4 lures so long as they don't have fine trebles.

Ergonomically, it might be the best rod I have ever used.  I threw a few different reels on it and they all felt great.  The combo just disappears in my hand, it's just amazingly comfortable to both cast and work a lure with.  I dunked my hands and the grip somehow does not feel slick at all, but at the same time there isn't that "sticky" feeling cork gives you. I heard rumors of new models being offered in the spring and if Shimano offers a PA version of the 73ML Expride it will be a day one buy for me.

This is a cool bait I keep for when the situation is super tough and fish are suspended.  This is a 1.5 inch RV bug by jackall, I rig it on a single light wire hook and fish it on my Airedge 642-UL ST and 3lb line.  It sinks very slowly and when it does the appendages wiggle like crazy.  On many occasions I have come across spooky suspended fish that don't eat any other baits and I have managed to catch using this lure.  I cast it out and let it slowly sink; usually the fish will come over and look at it for a while before sucking it in.  Absolutely irresistible to most fish.  If you can get your hands on it you have to try it.

In terms of lures I have a bit of everything, but I don't have massive massive stocks of specific baits.  I am a very serious angler but as a student I simply do not have the money to buy that many lures at once.

Those are some great rods, did you buy them in North America or bring them over with you?  I was looking at Jackson rods the other day, I missed out buying one of their Trickster bfs rods a few years ago when they were being discontinued and get the itch to hunt around for one occasionally.

I haven't brought some of them over yet.  I have a Shimano Expride 64L for baitfinesse fishing over here, I will try to bring the Abu Garcia Fantasista BF rod back soon.  The Jackson 6' 9 heavy was from Hong Kong and the Graphite leader rod was too.  You can get good BFS rods off eBay, just be careful when ordering one piece rods, make sure they specify that they ship with a tube.

I have a legend tournament walleye that I adore. To me St.Croix addressed the 3 main issues I had with their rods. Comfort, looks and weight. To me they always had the best build but lacked in those areas enough that I passed on them. Not the legend tournament.

Nice. Do you have a Tatula SV TW to compare that reel to?

The long cast is comparable to the HLC reels of the past. It doesn’t behave like any SV spools.

New toy just came in. It’s a lot smaller than I expected and I love how well it palms. It also has the least amount of backplay that I have seen in a Shimano baitcaster. It’s also the first I-DC5 reel I’ve held so it will be interesting to see how it behaves next to my older 2012 Exsence.

Let us know how this works for you.

I've mainly been using it for small to mid size swimbaits up to 2.5oz. I threw lipped wake baits and even 4oz lipped bait with a large amount of water resistance. Time will tell how well it holds up to the abuse but so far it is the smoothest reel I've used. Even under load turning the handle is effortless and I can't feel the gears at all. It's pretty much what I was hoping for, a smooth compact reel with a lot of torque. It feels even more refined than the regular conquests I've used.

On the casting end I've mainly been using it to cast baits weighing 1-3 ounces with a fair amount of wind resistance. I have the inner dial set on nylon and mainly fiddle with the outer dial. W (I would assume for wind) seems to have the most aggressive braking and is what I use most of the time. Bomb casts feel slightly overbraked on that setting but pitching feels good and controlled especially compared to my previous gen DC reel. I'm still getting it dialed in with different baits.

Strange, you seem to have the same wall and at least one same rod as the fellow that posted a few posts before.

And to think I used to ice fish with a cheapo solid glass jig pole with a line cradle for hand wrapping.

I did post a few posts earlier but I bought another Legend Tournament (my 4th) and the Legend X.  I thought the wall made a nice backdrop.  I have the SC disease.  I have 12 of their rods ( 1-Legend X, 2 Legend Xtremes, 4 Legend Tournaments, 2 Legend Elites, 2 Avids, and 1 Mojo Musky).
