Went to Black Hills today and caught what is easily my PB.  Slowing swimming a senko with a chartreuse tail (again) and she inhaled it...I knew it was big when I set the hook, but I almost ticked on m

Went to Loch Raven today and caught a new PB.  Scale said 5 pounds even.  Caught her on a 1/2 oz. chartreuse Booyah spinnerbait.  Also would have had a PB chain pickerel but he bit me off right before

weather report has improved for 2mrw. I will be out and about at black hills.

Thought I only had a few hours tomorrow morning to fish due to wife working and me having to watch the kid.  Got the ok from the wife that the kid is going to her friends house, looks like I have all day to fish.  Hitting up blackhills in the morning.  Going to hit the stick-ups 1st, then backwash, then since I have time going to see where else I can get myself too.

If you see me come say hi.  You can't miss me, I'll have my blue tackle backpack with me.

It will be my 2nd time there so I am not familiar with where to look for ya.....I will be off 121 1st pull off before the bridge from 270

Anyone caught anything today? Went out from 9am-2pm, but got nothing. Might try to go out again tomorrow but the air temperature in the morning is close to 50 degrees, and local lake's water temperature today was close to 45 probably is even lower tomorrow. Should I even try to go out tomorrow, or stay home and watch MBA. LOL.

This is how my morning looked.

d**n, I had 10 bucks on me, I should have flagged you down for a ride. I was stuck on shore for 9-12, didn't catch anything.  I talked to a few others, it was slow for them too.  I would have been there longer, but the wife called me at 12 telling me her car was broke down.  Good thing for her I didn't go pick up my bothers Jon boat for the day.

Yea I was solo again. Talked to a few and they were having a tough day. I put on about 7:30 and fished to 2:30. Put a total of 12 in the boat and lost 1. No big girls just two 3lbrs. Fish are kinda scattered from steep banks, wood, and points. Would like to get back tomorrow and try to work some spots allitle more thoroughly but it's not gonna happen. Any one else get out?

Where are all the other boats? I went to the zoo with the family yesterday or I would have been there. Next Sunday is my club tournament there so don't you guys sore lip all the fish. Last year I lost angler of the year by 1 fish to a rule that I didn't know existed.

Fished Loch Raven again.  This time I went with my 2 younger brothers.  My older younger brother got one on a T-rigged Rage Anaconda and I caught my first jig fish on a SK Hack Attack jig.  Really liking Loch Raven and thinking I might wanna try the other Reservoirs like Liberty and Prettyboy.

I hit rocky gap for a few hours since it's only about 2 miles from my moms. I was the only boat out. Still doesn't make the fishing any better at that place though. Oh well it's dinner time.

Had an hour this evening so I ran up to Baker Park, on the way out the door my 6 year old daughter asked to come.  She out fished me tonight.

I need some advice!

Went out to Linganore this evening, nothing biting, tried many different lures. Decided to try an old rubber minnow I had that was every bit of 7 years old, LOL. On about the 4th cast it got slammed! Got the fish to shore, and it had some great colors and was very fat and heavy, problem was I was on top of an 8' embankment with no way to lip the fish. Tried to lift it out but my line snapped along with my heart...

Soooo, I decided before the season I was going to use 12lb Fluoro. Last year I seemed to catch many more fish on Fluoro rather than braid. I also lost another large fish on Fluoro last year for the exact same reason. My question is which type of line should I use being a shore fisherman? I am pretty sure I am done with Fluoro despite catching more fish, it's just not worth the heartbreak of loosing the big fish...

I hope everyone enjoyed they're Easter weekend!

I stopped there yesterday for Alittle while before dark, nothing going on then either

Pretty sure its Smithville Lake on the Eastern Shore.  The boat ramp and the concrete embankment in the back of one of the pics give it away.  Wish I still lived down there.  One of my favorite lakes in that area to fish.  Caught quite a few quality fish out of there.

Yes, you're correct.  It's not close to home for me, but I like to get out there now and then to get away from everything.  The only things that keeps me from going more often are gas prices and beach traffic.  It's nice because you can do those lakes with an electric motor, but most of them you can run your outboard (6 mph or less though) to save your battery.  There are many good lakes across the Bay from us, and all of them have good fishing depending on the species.  I also like the idea that if any particular pond isn't working out for you, the tidal river/creek options are many for bass, pickerel, perch, crappie, etc.  Spot changes are not a big deal, and there is always another option nearby in most of the Eastern Shore.

But the cypress trees do give you the feeling of the Chickahominy!

Here are a couple more pics from a recent trip for tidal bass.  We spent a lot of time chasing stripers which weren't biting that day.  But when we bass fished, we caught several of these (like identical 2 pound twins everywhere).  That's OK, I'll take 'em all day long.

I love this picture.  When unhooking this bass, the crankbait was free and clear, and as I was ready to release it, the next thing you know I look down and this little bugger was chomping down on my line cutter!  It was wedged in there pretty good.  My buddy's suggested that I tie it on and cast it out there  ;D

Sooner or later the bite is going to turn on

Buy a net with a long handle? Lol

MARsSpeed, fishing from shore you need to have some plan to get to a fish once hooked. Your choice of line seems good, you can switch to braid for strength but you may then need a leader. Even with heavier line though a plan is needed because a rod is not going to lift a good up that much without running the risk of breaking.

Anybody ever float from Brunswick to Point of Rocks?  Trying to figure out how long that may take.

Stopped by Ben's Branch which feeds Lake Linganore and got my first smallie of the year. The fella I was fishing with pulled out a 17" smallie and also about a 12" Rock Bass.

Some of you Frederick Fellas may want to check out Linganore Creek sometime. Public Access and parking on Linganore Road and small walk gets you there.

SHHHHH!!! That's been my secrect place for a few years.  Nothing to see here, please move along.

We access it from Spring Ridge which puts you in it a little further up from Monocacy.

My brothers found this.  My Mom lives in Spring Ridge and the creek runs back behind there.  There is one spot in Spring Ridge you can park and  with a nice walk through the woods you can walk up to lake linganore.  I've never snuck up to the lake but we've fished the heck out of that creek the past 3 years.  It's a great wading creek with pleny of smallmouth and largemouths mixed in.  I love hitting that creek with my little 4 1/2 foot ultra light setup.  Small crank baits, 4" zoom lizards, brush hogs, and mini torpedo's will catch you fish.

I'm not going to put my spots on here for the world to see but if you want to know the 2 places we access it, hit me up with a PM.  It's a nice place to get out to during the week after work when you only have an hour or two to fish.  I normally wait until the water warms up to wade it since bank fishing that thing is not very ideal.

Finally got our licenses. Got MD Non-Resident in case you all decide to have a get together sometime. We hit Sharpsburg Pond...I hooked a LM but it spit out bait. Saw a few moving. I was thinking bass would be getting ready to spawn but looks like the spawn is already over. We stopped below the Rumsey Bridge and fished the Potomac...way too much water moving to shore fish. Hope to get out to more ponds soon.

wv, don't think the spawn is over. They were probably up shallow looking for places to spawn. With the weather everything is behind this year. Problem is when they are in this mode they don't feed much, have to try to get a reaction bite.
