Matt, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but I don't know what you are smelling?? Yesterday, it was 8 degrees with snow on the ground and I only live a few miles from you. It is 10 degrees this morning and the snow is still there. Optimism is great, but I am not taking the cover off my boat just yet. LOL Ronnie Enthusiasm?! Optimism?! When it was 8 degrees out, I was running around town in just my underwear (my BPS brand underwear, mind you!) leaping and shouting "SPRING IS HERE!!!! The funny thing is, "enthusiasm" and "optimism" are the exact words the police chief used...... :-/ i might possibly have underwear thats older that you, i know i have some really old long johns. 8-)

what is the stores selection of rods and reels? IMO on cranking the rod isnt as importain as the reel since the reel will be tested non stop.

i been working with him and the deal is he does ok in the back yard but once were tossing out on the water he gets frustrated and stops fishing so i assume for $25 i can buy a good casting reel for him. the sad part is last year i bought him a symetre on RW's advise and he refuses to use it.

not a bait caster. a casting reel, you know, something my 13 year old son would use.

any suggestions for a casting reel? id like to get something that is about 5:1 and holds 8-10 lbs test. thanks.

im not getting excited till the water hits 50 degrees. in kansas i might be waiting a while.
