  1. FYI, if you decide on the Revo S, be sure to check your local Walmart. Mine has the Revo S priced at 100 dollars even, which is about 29.00 cheaper than most places.
  2. Can you share with us what you learned during your time with Boyd???
  3. If you watch closely, you can at times find items in the bargain that are new, unused, and being "phased" out or "remodeled" for the next year. I saw quantum energy rods in the bargain for 49.00 still with the plastic wrap on them. As mentioned earlier, it is a crap shoot and timing is everything. One last point, Cabela's will match their bargain cave/on-line prices at their retail stores. Many times they have items on the shelf at full retail, but they are on sale online at drastically reduced prices.
  4. Go to the Doctor...asap. While there, request physical therapy so you can strengthen not only the injured ankle, but the other one as well. Inquire with your Lax team trainer about taping your ankles before you play. You can ask about being fitted for a brace, but in many cases the folks treating you are going to push for you to strengthen and stretch ankle, foot, and lower leg muscles/tendons/ligaments to prevent injuries down the line.
  5. No Problems. And it is human nature to view things from one's own perspective. All those different perspectives makes this forum a great place for sharing ideas, and learning from others. It's all good. ;D ;D
  6. Outstanding. Thanks for sharing that. While I am not a fan of her or her husband, Whitney Houston also did an incredible job when she sang before the superbowl several years ago.
  7. Easy for me. Roadwarrioir posted an informative piece for those of us who weren't catching fish very often, or not at all. In this piece, he...well, here is the link, you can read from him much better than I could paraphrase http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137
  8. Look into a merino wool baselayer. They are incredibly comfortable, do not stink after wearing for a day, and much warmer than underarmour, at least in my opinion. Under Armour leaves me feeling "wet" which leads to that cold/clammy feeling. Merino wool never leaves me with that wet feeling. If you do not sweat at all, then it does not matter. Nothing I have used comes close to the merino wool. Plus, it is much more comfortable in my opinion. Price wise, they are comparable. I would personally look at a polartec powerstretch top before I would go with Under Armour. I have both and would rank the powerstretch ahead of underarmour, but behind the merino wool. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  9. Does anyone here fish from any of the hobie kayaks or the propel kayaks that you pedal??? I would like to hear about loading/unloading, how the paddle/pedal systems really work, and if you think they are worth the extra money?
  10. I bought some items from Jack on this site, and we shared a few pm's over different things. I have heard people refer to Jack as sincere, gentleman, honest, giving, forthright, and it is all true. We will miss him.
  11. ESPN reports that he does indeed have to register as a sex offender, and gets 6 years probation. I think one of the things that may have made a difference other than who he was ....was the girl told police during her first interview that she told Taylor she was 19 WHEN HE ASKED HER HOW OLD SHE WAS. At least. that is what I read when this first came out. LT is just a P.O.S. any way you cut it.
  12. I have the Tournament ZX in the 3000 size. Smooth drag, smooth upon the retrieve, and I bought it for 50 bucks. The guys at Cabelas recommended them to me, and compared it favorably to the Diawa exceler. I have shimano symmetres and a saros, and while I think the shimano reels are "smoother" on the retrieve, the cabelas reel does everything very well, and for some reason I am able to cast farther with the cabelas reel as well. For 50.00 bucks, I think it is an outstanding value.
  13. Gene, are you thinking about the regular ultimate, or the new propel model???
  14. Senkos as well. Haven't tried the mend-it. I will have to, because I can go thru two bags a day at times.
  15. I used an older pflueger trion cranking rod that has a parabolic action. Because I have the reflexes of a jungle cat, I needed something with a little slower reaction time. ;D ;D ;D Also, not much grass up here in the lakes I fish so I do not have to "rip" free from the grass. I have also used the mojo bass crankin rod, and liked it till an insert fell out. >
  16. it doesn't have alot of action, but it does work pretty well fished around the rip rap. I texas rig it and slowly drag it, hopping it here and there, with an occasional small rip. Bass seem to like it.
  17. Keeping this at the top. Good luck.
  18. You might want to try the Yum craw bug, really looks like a smaller crawdad. I have had success fishing it texas rigged around rocks.
  19. I have only shot a couple of my uncle's bows, but these are without a doubt the smoothest shooting recurve I have ever shot...and have shot Bear, Wing, PSE, and many others. http://www.assenheimer-bows.com/aboutus.html
  20. The whole experience. I love being out in the early am while still dark, jitterbug gurgling away, and WHAM comes the strike. I love hearing the turkeys gobble, water being so still, the bump at end of my line, the anticipation that comes with each cast. All of it. I only started started fishing a few years ago, and now I can't get enough of it. I would go everyday if I could.
  21. Danner, Wolverine, and Redwing have all been very good to me. Depending on your needs, I have had a pair of Asolo Hiking boots for 5 years now, waterproofed with Obenaufs, and they still are going strong. I don't wear them everyday, but I do wear them every time I go fishing, and they are extremely comfortable, supporting, and fit like a good pair of boots should. They are pricey, at about 200 bucks, but can be found online at great prices. I paid 132 for mine.
  22. Thanks BobP. I do have some split ring pliers and they do make a difference. I didn't know which # of split rings to use. Would there be a problem with using #2 on smaller 1/4 oz. baits?
  23. Wow. That is great. Thank you.
  24. I have a kistler argon "topwater" rod that I really like. It has a shorter handle and makes walking the dog and twitchin poppers a breeze. I paid 69.00 bucks for it last summer. worth that price easily for me.
  25. I have the cabelas alaskan guide headlamp with the 3 green led bulbs. It is exceedingly bright, also has white maxbrite led for long distances, and is very easy on batteries. I have used it for about 6 years now hunting and fishing. Best part, if you watch, they will go on sale from time to time for 24.95 to 29.95. At that price, it is a great value.
