  2. 1. Be a good father. 2. Look at life as a series of decisions and try to make the right one more often. 3. Finish in the top six in my bass club tournaments. 4. Feed the Bait Monkey!

  7. Great fish man!
  8. I read every reply in this thread, and it seems the bait monkey has whipped everyone here more than once! This is a great thread though and I'm gonna take a stab it to. rod 6 ft 8in MH Allstar reel ABU Revo S line 10 pound P-line [Halo] 1 T-rigged Zoom ss U tale [watermelon red] 2 Rapala DT6 [shad] 3 LC Sammy [ghost minnow] 4 Booyah Counterstrike spinnerbait (1/2 oz custom skirt] 5 Zoom baby brush hog [t-rigged, junebug] That's harder than it looks ain't it?
  9. I fish a small farmpond close to my home that prodces many, many fish proportioned simalar to that pig your holding. I also beleive that these are the fish with the most potential for weight gain. Is it something genetic that causes this growth pattern or is it just conditions and/or food supply? I caught a 23-24 inch fish early last spring that probably weighed close to 8. I wish I had pics to show the shape of the fish. Great looking fish, congrats!
  10. Good looking fish dude! Don't worry about how it looks in the pics, that fish is well over 5.5 lbs. Congrats on the new PB!

Don't let'em hit ya too hard Avid, things just would'nt be the same around here without those famous one arm pics! Nice fish man!
  13. Amen.
  14. Every year I try to introduce a few people to "the sport". When I do I always start them off with a texas rigged worm. It seems to be the easiest bait for me to coach them on, except maybe a lipless crank but we're talking newbies in a boat.. safety first . Anyway, maybe all you need is to go fishing with someone that has some soft plastic experience and get a little coaching. Ask a lot of questions, try your best to follow instructions, and you'll pick up enough to start catching fish in one day. Good luck man!
  15. With all the other types of forage available, and given the size of a mayfly, I can't understand why a mature bass would exert the energy needed to feed on the little guys. To answer your question, if both a bass and a bream took an interest in the same mayfly, my money is on the bass!!
  16. Yup, thats the one. X3 Mustad makes a weighted hook with a keeper that I like alot also.
  17. Big article about those things in bassmaster magazine a few months ago. They say late spring during a mayfly hatch. I have'nt yet seen a mayfly as big as these cranks so I have not yet tried it. But hey, if it's in bassmaster magazine there might be something there. Maybe I'll try one this coming spring.
  18. Nice fish man! Keep the posts coming, I don't have that much time to fish right now and you are really keeping my spirit up posting hawgs like that! YOU ROCk!!!
  19. Nice fish guys! I bet Fivepoundbluegill never caght a burbot. LOL ;D ;D ;D
  20. Topwater bite, 6 pounds +, spinning gear, and in December!! How cool is that? Great fish man.
  21. I live in South Ga. and we are having the same weather. I have not yet had a chance to get on the water yet, but I am also curious about what this warm front might do to the fishing. Not to hijack your thread, but if this weather trend starts to raise the water temp is there a posibility that it might disrupt the spawn. As for your question, I'm going Saturday and I plan on using prespawn presentations. For me that means plastics and crankbaits.
  22. Every type of aquatic vegetation known to exist in our waters, a shirt, a soup can complete with bullet holes, grocery bags from every chain store in Georgia. The best ever was a minnow about 3/4" long on a lipless crank. The hook speared him in the side of the head. Aggressive little fellow!
  23. Great fish guys! That's awsome.
