  1. Wow, I did not know this. Thanks for the explanation. X2 I too, assumed it was from spawning/bedding and driving overloaded pick-up trucks! Great thread
  2. I cleaned out my supply of anacondas on my trip to SC last week. The fish were biting, but no bite came close to the anacandas. I have a new favorite worm for sure.

All the advice from Reel Mech is great, but nearly all the links in that article are dead now. I was just looking at that page today.
  4. I agree! Always reapplying that stuff. I like to think I have decent success with the craw scent, but to be honest, the only true reason I use scent is because I smoke, and I feel like putting some scent (such as shad or craw) covers up the unnatural smoke scent that I am sure passes from my fingers to my bait. When I quit smoking I will likely quit using scent...but who knows, its all about the confidence!
  5. X2 on seeing Reel Mech as a sponsor again, and I'll second *** as well!
  6. I love the smell too but could do without the slime
  7. I threw a baby spook and a pop-r in the bag when I headed out a bit ago before the lightening rolled in. I'm heading back out and will be sure to put them to work. Thanks to all!
  8. I've had good luck with these my first few times out this year throwing them with a 1/4oz bullet weight. Great bait, but slimy as all hell and why do they smell like black licorice?
  9. I've always thrown my spro bronzeye frog around pads and mats, but the ponds I'm fishing in SC right now are rather newly stocked and well manicured, and have no topwater vegetation. The only topwater bite we have been able to get is on a black buzzbait at night, but I'd really love to get one of these hawgs on topwater before I leave. Any advice?
  10. Your on a roll brother, good work!
  11. It has worked well for me, often with more success than casting along a bank
  12. Had another great night fishing outing tonight. Only out for about an hour and landed my new PB at just over 6lbs on a black/purple 3/8oz football jig with a paca chunk trailer! I couldn't wait to tie on a buzzbait, but got called back to the house by the boss
  13. I started out occasionally using Yum craw scent and bought the megastrike scent this year. I think it makes a difference, the fish hold on a little longer giving you time to set the hook, in my opinion.
  14. Great fish! Trust me, you will do well with the anaconda and space monkey!
  15. X2 although I love fishing tungsten weights, I hate the price!
  16. For starters I would go with the black spinnerbait suggestion and add a black (or dark color) buzzbait. I was out last night and they killed a buzzbait, but wouldn't hit a spinnerbait or topwater frog. bug spray and flashlight are a must. Last night I skipped the light and almost stepped on a water snake on the bank!
  17. I've been in that boat many times. I don't make it out on the water nearly enough to figure it all out on my own. This site has been outstanding in answering my questions and giving me the know-how needed to consistently out-catch my friends and family! Thanks to all BR members for being excellent stewards of our addiction. Also, thanks to the great sponsors for doing more than paying the bills for this site, thanks to all of those sponsors who take the time to explain their products, offer great deals and great advice!
  18. PB!

GREAT CATCH! I got my PB yesterday but she went about a pound less than that one!
  19. That is awesome, congrats to you and the fam!
  20. I go through enough alka seltzer at home, but I'm going to have to try the earplug trick!

Junebug and dirty craw are great colors for me
  22. Good to know!
  23. Matt Fly nailed it I think. I guess on the one hand you want something to make it stand out a little bit from the background, but still look somewhat like the bait a bass would expect to see in that area.
  24. great post. Very well written! To all who read it, take it to heart, be good fathers, uncles, step-fathers, etc. I'm 28 years old now, and will never forget the day my dad left, and all that he chose to miss while I was growing up. It took me nearly 20 years to forgive him and just accept that my father was not half the man my step-father was.
  25. Ike for sure, even when he seems ticked at the world, he still somehow manages to be happy to be fishing.
