  1. @12poundbass - I will 100% agree with you - The bread at the JJs near my work is always day-old or hard or over baked, but the one near my house is like fresh doughnuts. I have definitely seen a big variance in their bread based on how the store is run!
  2. For chains/convenience- I always do Jimmy Johns or Jersey Mikes. I loved Heidi’s when I lived in Denver and DC, but it looks like their east coast expansion failed. Add me to the group that prefers a local deli - there’s something about a sandwich on good bread that feels like your Uncle Sal just made it.
  3. Almost 20 years younger than you, and I still have to work for a living, but you help keep me on my workouts - thanks for that! now can you keep all the baked and fried holiday treats away from me?
  4. No teeth or shoes req’d to be a mod??!?
  5. I thought it was Pike on a Bike….then I realized it was a musky but didn’t want to be ‘that guy’… Then I realized, again, that I’m an idiot.
  6. Same here! And I play some Mario Kart with him from time to time.
  7. What outboard is on each and which looks overall better cared for?
  8. He’s going to love that Switch - mine has had one for a few years now. It’s just enough to be fun without being all -encompassing. Not a lot of first person shooter games for it either. It travels well and you can play it with him!
  9. Let me summarize- you didn’t buy what you should’ve and now you want it to be cheaper/easier to get what you want. Financing permitting, I’d probably sell the boat and get what I wanted. Finances not permitting, I’d probably buy some Gatorade and start working on my cardio.

Beautiful birds and i love that dog!
  11. Maybe it’s not weird at all… (I was actually referencing @A-Jay who was in that lie of work for a long time)
  12. I think the ‘schooling is a waste of time’ is a bit of a fallacy. Taking out tens of thousands in loans that saddle you with debt for years is the issue, as is credit debt for many adults. Going to a community college for two years and transferring those credits to a more appropriate school when you know a little better what you want to be is a very responsible route. So are trade schools. So is the military. If I were to do it all over I would probably join the Navy or Air Force to get an education and technical proficiency and see the world, but there’s a multitude of paths you can take. Definitely not Coast Guard rescue operations- those guys are nuts! ?
  13. If we’re going full sacrilege here - put Brie in the bottom, top it with halved figs and prosciutto. Use a spicy sweet tomato sauce somewhat sparingly.

I had a 336 in .35 Remington- great gun, great cartridge for the 200 yd and under deer hunting I did growing up.
  15. If he plays Minecraft with friends let him do it as much as he wants. Get outside and be safe but spend time with him. Good nutrition and plenty of hydration. It. Sucks.
  16. @jbsoonerfan How’d it come out?!?!
  17. The Making of the Atomic Bomb is a personal favorite- I’ve read it many times. I’m going to have to take a look at these Jared Diamond books.
  18. That sounds like some good turkey! If all else fails (and I’ve had some spectacular fails) there’s not much good gravy cant help.
  19. I was excited clicking to see what the resolution was!!!
  20. Salt, pepper, and garlic. I put a bouquet garni of thyme, rosemary, bay and sage in the brine. Bruised up if it’s fresh, in cheesecloth.
  21. I would keep it simple, and do it well. Butter and broth if you’re shooting up, but I also don’t inject if I’m hitting the brine. I get as much chopped and prepped and in the fridge as I can the day before, often in the vessel that it will cook in (turkey, yams, dressing, corn casserole). I use aluminum disposable pans where possible when it won’t affect the dish so there’s less clean up. If you’re coming over, you’re bringing dessert and/or wine. I do crudités and a cheese plate instead of salad because you can pick and wander around before dinner and then save the table for the real food.
  22. Wet brine for 36 hours then let dry in the fridge for 24 before roasting - skin crisps better that way.
  23. Tennessee Boy beat me to it. You can do similar things with a come-along and a chain or good rope, depending on how big your pole is.
  24. I paid $3.49 for premium in Charlotte today. If I’d known about 30 min earlier that I was going to have to chase a paint base to South Carolina I would’ve saved about 20 cents a gallon.
  25. @slonezp - how’d it come out?
