How does cool weather streak/rain affect fish?
In my experience, the above average rain this summer and the last couple weeks with 50 degree nights and 70 deg days has confused the bass. I caught some shallow, some deep and some cruising in 3-5'. Usually the shoreline cover is dry this time of year. Now it looks like the spring with high water. All I caught were under 1.5 lbs but lots of numbers. Overall most were caught in 10-15' deep grass. Bluebird skies will put them tight to cover and fish slow with accure casts. Cloudy skies should keep them active and partly sunny skies should move some shallow good luck

Connecticut river tournaments?
the river is a good tournament location in Hartford and Haddam CT. It has something for everyone. Great for multiple small or large tourneys. I fish 3 events a year on the river and I think there are events every weekend here too although many are not Opens. Try talking to local bait shops to find events that are suitable to you. Online is not always the best way because many trails are not advertised Good luck and Glad you son likes to fish with you

how to keep fish alive on stringer
A private lake I fish has a 5 hr. big bass tourney and people keep bass on stringers that usually die by the end. It is an elec motor only lake for canoes and rowboats. I keep mine in a styrofoam cooler and keep replacing the water throughout the day. It usually doesn't work well. So I am gonna buy an aerator and see how it works.

night fishing
The lake I fish has lots of weeds lillipads in the coves, 12" grass everywhere and random string -like weed thats makes crankbaits tough to throw The lake averages 6-8' deep We used midnight special spinnerbaits As I was fishing, I was at a loss as to where to go to find larger bass. Was it just a small fish night? I don't know much about night fishing

night fishing
I went fishing with Tokyo Tony the other night and caught lots of small largemouth and a few bigger ones. I was hoping for more bigger bass. I'd like to know how specifically to locate bass at night; lures and patterns Do bass move far and shallow or just hunt away from their daytime cover?

No more fishing for me?
I love fall fishing. Spring weather is too unpredictable.--on beds off beds who knows. In fall whip out your cranks and you'll see.

releasing bass after deep hookset
this technique does work and another one I use if I cannot get the hook out is to cut it out with HD wire cutters. You can cut as much of the hook out as you can see and sometimes cut off the barb and then remove the hook.

Wind?
There is alot on this topis if you search the site but in a nutshell Wind creates current and blows plankton toward the bank which brings bait in to feed and the bass follow I like cranks and spinnerbaits. As far as direction goes--sometimes it matters a warm wind from the south is better in CT Wind also dirtys the water and conceals you Its shakes up the water column and loosens food from cover making bass more active during the day. I'm sure others will elaborate or correct any unclear info I gave

A question about your club rules
There isn't a rule that I know in our club of 20 memebers, if there is it isn't enforced. we are all just courteous and things work out. If two boats are working toward each other one gives way. its usually the one whose just loves to fish and be outdoors. No matter who wins. As far as other tournaments, its a free world. If you have a rule and they don't, then what. Just be a sport and fish and be courteous. It shouldn't matter whose payout is more.

The IMPORTANCE of knowing the DROP SHOT!!!
Love it in the summer open water and cover in heavy cover I have alot of success with 20lb floro and rig a 3" senko weedless When fish are active in an area I throw it with 1-2 split shot on it and bass hit it on the fall. its too easy
