Lets Say You Won A Brand New Top Of The Line Rig
If they lent you the full value, you would have a salty payment, not a free and clear boat. You could pay all the taxes and fees but I am not sure how that loan works. Do they tack on all the interest the moment you borrow it like a car loan?

Appauled
Every hole we fished saturday someone cut us off on chautauqua. Every single time, I understand the main lake was rough but lets get real here people, if you wanna flip the docks at least go to the other side of the bay and meet us in the middle. Ive been having boat troubles lately, fuel starvation and it took me awhile but I tracked it down to a bad fuel pump. Yesterday I got to test it for the first time since I rebuilt everything. My home lake was even rough. I came into the bay where we just spent all winter doing restoration as a club and wanted to fish the brand new rip rap. There was a kid there, as soon as I entered the bay he started to run to the back. I started on the other end and started working around. Everytime I would move he would move. I eventually just let him have it to himself but the point here is that even when trying to be courtious it doesnt always work out due to the action of others. In your situation I wouldve said something too.

Chautauqua Report
Well we went out and wrecked em. The wind really never left up. Both lost a 5lb+ smallmouth near the boat. My buddy even caught 5 whitebass on a jerkbait. Other than the big smallie on the jerk that I lost I caught almost all of my fish on a perchy(chartruce, brown back, orange belly) bomber or bagly, I cant tell what it is its so old. Not bad for a day where you probably couldve taken one look at the lake and said no way. Locals told us last week was absolutely killer with the warm days and the cold pushed the fish back out. Most people we saw caught nothing so I feel we had a great day.

Chautauqua Report
Drove up here last night, 3.5 hour ride with my buddy Gary. Very cold night woke up to ice on the boat. Hit the ramp at daylight and were discussing muskies. First ten mins into it he brings an almost 40" fish to the boat. We didnt bring the fish in the boat as we had no net big enough nor bogas and didnt feel like possibly ruining the trip with trebble in the hand. Caught it on a jerkbait on a spawning flat. I lost a big one this morning, gary put 2-3 smallmouths and a largemouth or two in the boat. Nice fish but nothing to get too excited about. We also caught some rockbass and a few red ears when they could get rocked by a 3/0 offset. Amazing fishery, my first time here and I cant even imagine what it must be like when theres no wind and a cold front. It was 32 degrees this morning when we left. Oh yeah, our cabin, a simple space heater in it to keep warm. I sure was glad I brought my 20 degree hunting bag. The ride back was INSANITY. 26mph winds made for an interesting trip from the north end. Some of the roughest water I have ever seen. Came back in around noon, gonna head back out here in 20 as the wind is supposed to quit. Put it like this, I would never even remotely consider putting my 17' tracker in this lake if there was wind over 10mph. At times we probably had 5ft of air coming off of waves and frankly I am not a fan of that. Ill update this either tonight or tomorrow.

Fuel Tank Issues
Theres a pickup tube that goes into the tank. The only other part in there is what your gas gage is reading for ya. Yes, the pickup can be replaced and or cleaned. Some of the tubes also have an anti siphon valve on them known to go bad in which you take it off, drill out the guts, put it back on and forget it ever existed.

Your First Boat And Your Experience?
First boat was a 1979 Terry 14' Jon boat on a trailer with 5hp briggs n straton air cooled 5hp motor and a transom mount trolling motor. I paid $500 for it and drove 2 hours to get it. Immediately I replaced a rotten transom which cost me, added decks, carpet, new fish finders. In the end by the time I fixed everything I easy had $3000 in it which is insanity for what it was. It got me on fish, it got a TON of compliments. I sold it to save a house from forclosure but only got 2k out of it. It was esentially a brand new decked 14ft bass boat. Lessons: 14 ft isnt enough for my waters 5hp is a joke I hate tiller steering Bought my current boat last year, 92 tracker 17 pro with a 25hp evinrude 2 stroke. Boat VERY sound, trailer neglected and needed new bearings, wheels, tires. Motor neglected but not blown up... $3000(hindsight about $1000 too much). Its in the shop right now cause the bonehead before me over torqued the starter bracket and weakend the stud, when I redid my carbs the stud snapped off so it needs a helicoil(a friend is doing it). When its running right it fishes awesome, easy on gas, easy to tow. I would trade my 25 for a 60 in a millisecond.

Lets Say You Won A Brand New Top Of The Line Rig
You were lucky enough to beat the odds and walk away with the ranger in the fish for millions contest, or the gander boat, or ikes boat. Retail value on the ranger is $60,000, the pros boats likely even more. Would the tax burden kill you to the point you wouldnt even be able to keep the boat. We all would love to win a new boat right... or would we? Lets say the taxes are 1/3 you would have to find some way to come up with $20,000 to own that ranger before registration or anything else. A $20,000 brand new ranger is awesome but I dont have 20k laying around.

Wonder If I Did The Right Thing
The outdoors lifestyle caters to the best of the best who love it and the absolute garbage of the earth who care nothing about the resource. The problem is the general public mixes the two and they see you with a camo hat on then they assume you beat your wife and drink and drive. Fishing seems to have a lot of rude ignorant people until you are forced to hunt strictly public land and then the creeps really come out of the woodwork for the gun seasons. Guys shooting turkeys off of your calling, stealing your stands/cameras, baiting in states its illegal, killing more than their fair share of both fish and game. Sad really, sad an entire community is sterotyped and grouped with people who dont even deserve the right to buy a license.

Painting Bass Boat
Shoot in your situation = foam roller in light coats. Make sure any 320/600 scratches are long gone before you lay paint.

Painting Bass Boat
You just need to knock any shine off that it has and then make sure you use an epoxy primer. If you shoot epoxy on something not epoxy you will likely have a wicked reaction. Id start with 320 knock all the shine off. Shoot a coat of primer, wet sand with 600, shoot another coat, wet sand with 1000, wipe down clean, clean it with a tack rag after it dries then start the paint. Wear disposible gloves, you dont want oils from your hands on it before you paint.
