  1. I am not familiar with lake, but one big difference between LM and SM are where they like to locate. LM like cover, SM like structure. Try fishing around rock piles, and where the rock size changes. the smallmouth will be there.
  2. I remember as a kid catching some whitebass during one those runs. it was so much fun, and so easy to catch. I caught them on the Sulfer River below Lake Wright Patman outside Texarkana, TX. What memories.
  3. Here in Idaho you have to register a kick boat if you put an electric motor on it. I would guess that it would be a the same elsewhere.
  4. I have caught smallies in the 7in range on the 4in trick stick (* "senko")
  5. I can't believe that some people do not catch nice fish on the DS. I use it a lot, and catch a lot of fish on this. Today I was using a T-rig with no success, swapped to a DS and caught some fish. It is a wonderful technique. I have used finesse worms, centipedes, 4in lizards, trick sticks, and other things on the DS with success.
  6. Pretty cool! Nice pics.
  7. I have one, but I haven't hunted alot in the past few years. My lab died in January. :-[ I am actually going to sell my camo boat, and my duck and goose decoys. I will keep 2 dozen duck decoys and my mojo if I feel the need to go set up once or twice. I like having it and using it.
  8. I do really well here with craw imitations. I am always looking at different baits to try out.
  9. You sure do. I had to look twice to see the palms. You can say that again, I had to go back and look again.
  10. caught a bunch that looked like that this year and they went about 2 1/2 pounds.
  11. I used to use a split shot on the end of the line, But I started using the drop shot weights and I really like them. Easier to use. I started pouring my own, so I am well stocked up on them.
  12. That is good!
  13. That is what I was doing last night. I could not feel the hits, but would see a twitch in the line, or a little resistance and would set the hook. I caught several fish. They were LM, I usually catch smallies, but fun nonetheless.
  14. NICE! But we all would love to see pics.
  15. That is a nice one allright. Nice job.
  16. My boat is in the shop with trim/tilt problems (meaning it won't). :'( My brother-in-law and myself went to this very small lake (more pond size) to fish in his smallboat. Last time I was there was probably 4 years ago and you had to carry your boat to the water. You can use electric motors. It is more of a swimming hole. More people swim there than fish there. The fishermen were outnumbered last night by 10 times. I really want to get back out catching those smallies.
  17. Went to a place with some small largemouths this evening and caught quite a few. This is the average size, some were bigger and some were smaller. It was fun. Everything caught on *.
  18. Too young, not responsible enough. Here in Idaho 10 year olds can small game hunt with supervision. I think kids need to have a certain maturity level to hunt unsupervised, wether he/she is 12 or 18, depends on maturity and responsibilty of the youngster. My 8 year old started shooting a .22 at age 5. He will hunt at age 10 supervised, and it depends on his maturity level as to when he gets to hunt by himself.
  19. I am an almost all catch and release. I will keep a few smaller ones once in awhile to eat. There is nothing wrong with it. I do release most of the time. I have only kept bass once this year, I have crappie in the freezer to eat.
  20. Hey thanks, by the way, I grew up in AR (Texarkana), left after graduating high school in 1991.
