fee costs in your state
Our yearly license is $19, and it costs to launch boats at certain spots. As far as registration I am not sure.

Lifetime license
Does anyone have a lifetime license for their state? My parents bought me one a few years ago as a Birthday present and I am so glad they did. I guess I just have to live in NY for the rest of my life, but that wouldn't be so bad. I would recommend anyone under 20 to ask their parents for one as a present of some sort, or if you are a parent you could invest. I recently heard rumors that NY is trying to go species specific for licenses, but with a lifetime license I would be all set.

has anyone ever created an artificial fishing spot?
Where do i find if it is legal? And I would not consider it cheating, just an unfair playing field.

Curado 201dpv
Would this make a good cranking reel? It has the 5.0:1 ratio, but it seems heavy. The IPT is at 21". It looks like the older model Curado, has anybody used this?

Testing sensitivity
Is there a way to test the sensitivity of a rod in the store?

why should i join a bass club and where would i?
There is plenty of clubs in NY just look to towns close by, if there are none, try to start your own. As for why to join, join because you will get information from several different people on techniques.

1991 Tracker Pro Series NITRO...What do you guys think?
Depends on how good the owner is, If he babied this boat then sure it'll be great. If he just kinda had it, performed no annual maintenance then it may be in bad shape.

Things that make you feel stupid
When you tie on a nice expensive bait, or the last plastic you have that has been catching fish. And you toss it over to get ready to fish, and ... you find out you tied it to a scrap piece of line and your lure sinks to the bottom. Or when you go to toss a bait to someone and it goes straight over for a swim.

Bestnetmanaround, baby due tommorow!
Good! A new fisherman/woman. Congrats

For all who crank lefty
It's terrible how hard it is to find a decent cranking reel. And now with 7:1 ratios its all you can find in left hand. Its an unfair playing field.

buying fishing sunglasses
I bought sunglasses on style, and got them polarized. So find ones you like, and then find them polarized. A $20 pair will do the same thing as a $200 pair. But the $200 pair will last longer, be more scratch resistant etc

baitcasting question (flipping and pitching)
He's got it, its all in the thumb, and wrist. Also you have to work on depth perception so you can get the range down. I have found it is easy to be inline with the target, just going over or too short are the most common ways of missing. Set a small bowl in your backyard at ~10 yards and keep pitching till you start making it regularly when you can get 8/10 then move it back 5 yards or so, or make it a smaller target. Get some friends and make a game. I set a cup under a fallen down tree in my friends backyard and out pitched them 20:2:0 ;D. Good luck

will bass bite this?
Bass will bite anything, a crankbait is a reaction bait so they won't care if it is made for walleyes.
-
Spinnerbait Rod
Yes, you can feel the blades move so well.

TOURNAMENT ANGLERS: How do you practice for a tournament?
As a non Boater get in contact with the boater and see what his strengths are, whether he will be on deep structure or hitting docks all day. Watch the weather, find reports on the lake you plan to fish and see what was working the past few years. And thats about it, I wont drive all the way to the lake to fish a few days for a small club tourny.

Looking for a sensitive rod
Agree wit RW, the AVC70MHF is a great rod, IMO Very Sensitive and a great price. Also the Shimano Crucials are nice, or keep your eye out for a used IMX.

$150 for 2 setups
Yeah just get one, quality before quantity. I learned the hard way, I had 2 $75 set ups, and they were just a hassle and were not as good. If I could do it over I would have bought one good set up at $200.
-
Curado e5
Yeah do it, if its for cranking a slower would be better, and if you have the opportunity.
