Winter 2025 ~ 2026
We had 2 mostly dry days, so you'd think the water would recede. Instead, levees and dikes failed, prompting more road closures and emergency evacuations. And now the heavy rains are back, this time packing high winds too. The destruction is very widespread. Flooding and washed out roads are everywhere statewide and into Idaho, Oregon, and western Montana. Two of the three main highway passes are shutdown for miles and miles. The roads are too damaged and washed away to assess when they'll re-open. Mudslides and flooding cover the roads that weren't washed out. More rain today and tomorrow plus 50+ mph winds mean more flooding, landslides, and power outages. On the plus side, it's in the mid-60s today. Absolutely bizarre on a December day.

Fighting bass and mother nature in December
I don't know man. The debris flows coming down the Columbia right now, and you in a kayak are NO match for that. Entire trees, giant logs, and trash are floating down the river. You can't play dodgeball in that current and wind. They just pulled a body out of local lake yesterday - another kayaker who thought it'd be "fun" to check out the flooding.

Good point. The policy hasn't changed. This one somehow made it through. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. And scene....

The shaky head rig, IMHO, is just a finesse bait on a light jighead, which has been around for decades. It was the introduction of a specific style of jighead that shoved it into the spotlight under the name of said jighead that made it popular. Before that, we just used ballhead and darter jig heads for the same technique. Don't be misled by the name. While "shaking" the bait is one method, it certainly isn't the only one. Dragging, hopping, swimming, etc are all on the table. There's really no wrong way to fish it. You just have to experiment to find out what the fish want that day. Remember, too, bait selection varies. It's not just a finesse worm, but can be almost any downsized plastic bait, or finesse bait, although I'd exclude minnow baits.- Winter 2025 ~ 2026
That's definitely the stretch that took the worst of it, however it's relative. The devastation is statewide, both east and west. I'm in the mountain foothills, near 2 rivers that are flooding at historic levels. I'm at the top of the tallest hill in the area, so I'm safe.- Winter 2025 ~ 2026
The flooding is at ridiculous levels. This morning they had an emergency evacuation of a CITY of 10,000 people! Levees and dikes are stressed, overrun, and some are failing. Many smaller towns are under water. One town, while not flooded, has lost their sewer, power, water, and gas lines - all destroyed by raging waters. They are isolated. Many roads are washed out, damaged, bridges gone, some roads are just gone. It's going take a long time to fix everything. Fortunately, the rain has stopped for today and most of tomorrow before it returns. So we're getting a little relief. I've been getting so many flood warnings on my phone extending the previous warnings, that the last blast of warnings just said the warnings "Remain in effect until further notice" I'm safe and dry, but a chunk of the city just 1 1/2 miles north of me had their freshwater main wash away where it crosses a river. They're now on a "boil water" mandate. My neighbor's WX station clocked 52mph winds and measured 5 1/2" of rain in last 3 days. Less than many areas around us. The next storm will hit Monday.- New Article! 5 Bass Lures to Try This Winter

The flooding is bad. Real bad. The worst I've seen in many decades. I'm safe, but I feel for the people who have lost everything. But thankfully no lives have been lost (yet). MANY roads are closed, including primary highways and interstates, due to mudslides and washed out roads. And now there are flash flood warnings because dikes and levees may fail. More rain is coming. It just keeps getting worse. I think we'll have about 30 inches in 5-6 days once this is over.- More and more anglers are re-powering with Suzuki

I got out and back home just fine. There's some standing water in places, but the route I took was along higher ground too. There's a lot of flooding all over the state; and flood watches/warnings have been extended through the weekend already. Aaaaand now the wind is getting strong. Saturated soils + High winds = downed trees and power outages. Usually we get this stuff in November. Mother Nature is running late! The good news? It is unseasonably warm....feels like spring.- Winter 2025 ~ 2026
It's about to get real. They're predicting HEAVY rain, triggering massive floods and landslides. Many areas are already flooding, and they're saying this is just the beginning. It's all good at my home, but I have some traveling to do, and it might be difficult to maneuver around the road closures....and the roads that aren't closed, but should be.- Flat sided crankbaits?

Those fumbles....back-to-back fumble/re-fumbles. That's gotta be some kind of Trivial Pursuit record. The Colts...2 weeks ago I was thinking the Hawks didn't have a shot against them. Now that all the defensive players are healthy, and the Colts are missing their star QB, there's a chance.- The latest sale thread
