I love almost every bait Zoom makes. They have them in a large selection of colours and very affordable.

I don't use white for any soft plastics, but my favourite crankbait colour is white... I feel like it's the best colour overall and it works for all situations.

This pretty much sums it up. It's still a free replacement if it's "not" your fault. Maybe people should treat their expensive equipment better. A little care wouldn't hurt. I've been fishing with the same combos for 3 years now and I've taken really good care of them. You don't know how many times I've seen someone drop their $500-600 combo, put in the dirt or do some idiotic thing. Either money is easy made or your abusing the system. How can so many people slam their door on their rods... geez...

I really enjoyed these pictures. My favourite combo is my the older HMG with a Curado 200E, it feels perfect to me. I would jump on the new HMG, but like I said before, I don't like the new reel seat and the foregrip seems big compared to the older ones. Great pictures Micro!

I have caught pike in the past, but they were small and I could easily release them. When this fish hit my bait, the first thing I thought was I had a huge bass on, but when it jumped in the air, I was disappointed for a second. I was using 10lb mono with no leader and it was the fight of my life. It took so much line and splashed around, I've got to say it was so much fun that I might head out and purchase a musky combo and a few lures. I had no net so I asked my girlfriend to borrow one from a little kid playing with his. The fish didn't fit in it, but was enough leverage for me to lift him onto land. After I let this one go, I was teaching my girlfriend how to cast her spinnerbait further and BAM! another one hit, only 24" and no pictures, but it tore up my spinnerbait and again the fight was awesome. I must be hooked. A kid came by to watch me catch it so I asked if he wanted to be in the picture as well.

I hooked onto my first musky this year and it was a thrill to fight it. It jumped a few times and literally flew in the air. When the fight was over, I took a few snap shots, measured it (30 inches) and when it came to releasing it, I had no idea how to hold it. 1) How do you hold a musky by the gill plates like I see in other peoples pictures? I know not to touch damage the gills, but I heard there is a blade somewhere there so I didn't want to attempt it. Can someone explain in detail? 2) When I released the fish, it slipped out of my hand and I couldn't revive it. I then saw it floating around and it eventually disappeared, so did the fish survive after it rested or did someone bigger eat it for dinner?

It takes a lot of time and practice to be good at something. With fishing, you need to take it slow. I suggest you do some research on how to cast a baitcaster. There are excellent videos on youtube that explain everything you need to know. Then as for which bait and lures to use, just keep it simple and stay with soft plastics such as t-rigged senkos and worms. Fish them slow. They will definitely catch you fish and you can get the hang of setting a hook. As you start to get the hang of things, you can expand and try new techniques. It's okay to get skunked, especially on shore. Even when I'm on a boat, sometimes I only catch a few. Don't give it, even if you don't catch fish.

I really want a Curado 50 for my light cranks. I am currently using a Citica 200E and if I improve my crankbaiting skills/catch rate, it'll be just enough to justify me purchasing a new reel.

Losing a fish hurts, but it's nothing to get upset over. I fish to be at peace and away from the city. When it becomes stressful, it's no longer fun. Heck, I don't even mind not catching fish when I'm out at the lake. Catching bass is a bonus for me and catching a big hawg is a special gift. This is the way I always look at things. The past 5 years has been very stressful with school and life so that's how I got back into fishing. When I was younger, it was my favourite thing to do. I can understand if I did this for a living and losing a big fish equals losing a paycheck, but even then, getting upset can really affect your performance.

1. Southern Ontario 2. Been catching more bass this year, bigger in size as well. 3. Location, I've been trying a few new spots this year with good results. Also, I believe I'm a better bass fisherman this year as well. I am learning a lot on each trip and starting to develop some skills I struggling with in the previous years. Teaching my gf (now my fishing partner) has also made me go back to basics and it's been a big part of my learning process. I used to always forget everything I know when the fishing was tough.

Keep working at the Palomar knot. I use this knot for everything and it has never failed me. Losing 6-8" ain't so bad. Eventually you'll get better in time. Just stop swinging the fish into the boat and set your drag properly and the only way you'll lose a fish is from a bad hook set.

I think this has to do with the lake or pond you are fishing. If your fishing a lake such as Lake Simcoe here in Canada that averages 5-6lb smallmouth bass easily, I guess anything under 2 pounds would be considered a dink. When I fish at my local pond, a 2.5 pounder makes me feel like I caught a hawg on light spinning gear and I wouldn't consider that a dink at all. Anything under 12" then I would say dink. That's how I see it.

Hand my gf a wacky rigged senko, black with blue flake and she catches fish after fish... I do prefer to use other baits, but can't deny that a senko is guaranteed to catch fish anytime anywhere. When I'm not getting bites, I'll usually go to a senko, finesse worm or a baby brush hog.

I feel sorry for kids these days... iCarly and Hannah Montana? They need to start playing reruns of old shows.

Thanks for all the great tips on saving money and freeing lures from snags, but can anyone give me some tips on fishing a crankbait? I feel like whenever I fish a crankbait faster, I would get snagged more often.

I've been throwing crankbaits a lot more this year and my success rate has been not good. I've lost more crankbaits than I have caught bass. There are some days where I do well and there are days that get very frustrating getting hung up on every other cast. This problem has mostly to do with shallow crankbaits, especially flat sided baits. I've lost quite a few Spro Little John's. I'm not a crankbait expert so I assume they aren't the best for heavier cover, but I thought you needed to deflect off objects to get hits. Seem like I get hung up every time I hit something. I tried everything from giving it a pause to jerking it. Some advice? Funny how when I run into a problem, I tend to get frustrated and forget even the basics of fishing.

If your planning to use the laptop for school and leisure internet, specs wouldn't be much of a problem for you. The most important thing is the feel the of the laptop. I went laptop shopping and had the chance to feel the weight, the key pad and layout. Choose one that you like and one that feels comfortable in your hands. Many of the specs on laptops now are good enough to do whatever you want with duo core processors, 2-3 gigs of ram and atleast 200+ gigs of HD space.
