Help Picking Out A Laptop
Bro inlaw told me to stay away from Toshiba when I was shopping. My step daughter had purchased one a few years back and if memory serves me correct it didn't last too long.

Window And Door Guys???
I had Gilkey come out yesterday and it looks like the best window I've seen yet. Although not cheap. He showed me 3 types of vinyl saying the "grayish" vinyl from Canada is pure and is what they use. The "blue/white" and "off white" area mix of vinyl and filler and are the ones that warp. They are also triple paned. He used to be a Renewal Dealer and said they had issues with screws loosining up during shipping and believed the product was inferior. I also didn't care for the hard sell from Renewal "Sign now and you get it for this price" "Sign after today and the price goes up another 10%" The Pella guy is coming tonight.

Artillery Question
I don't think so. I know it's kind of apples and oranges with the amount of shots being fired, but right now there are plenty of waterfowl hunters on the waters I fish. The bite hasn't changed.

Help Picking Out A Laptop
My brotherinlaw is an IT guy. He recommends HP or Compaq which are the same company or Apple, for your run of the mill laptop. My 7 year old HP recently took a dump and I replaced it with another HP.

Paddletail Swimbaits
Been using Poorboys Kickin' Darters as a swimjig trailer. Anybody use the Keitech paddletails? I'm looking for a zipper type bait with a little more durability than the Darter.

Dissapointment.
Again BC, Don't sweat it. My son is a traitor. The only Packer fan in a Bears fan family. I don't know where I went wrong. Maybe he's just sick in the head. Romo hit his peak years ago. It was all downhill after he dated Jessica Simpson. She must have given him cooties or something.

So, How's Your Wco's?
Spread very thin. The couple bodies of water I fish are also patrolled by the Chicago police and Lake County police as well as the Coast Guard. From what I read on local sites they seem to be targeting primarily shore anglers. I normally get checke once a season and it happened 4 weeks ago. Was pulled over by Lake County Sherrif for not slowing down enough before entering a "No Wake" zone. Very prfessional. Checked our licenses, and safety equiptment. They never bothered to check the live well though and took my word there were no fish in there. Let me go with a warning.

Dissapointment.
You're just realizing this? Maybe Romo should go play for the Colts. That way, they might win one game this season.

Window And Door Guys???
I'm getting quotes to replace the windows in my house. Can I get some reccomendations on different brands? I have already gotten quotes from Anderson and Alside. Alside is vinyl and half the price of Anderson which is basicly a composite decking material. Virtuly the same transferable warranty. Anderson says vinyl windows are not made for the "hot/cold" of the Chicago area and are designed for more temperate climate. True/false? What other brands do you recommend? What ??? should I be asking these guys? I'm looking for a window with good quality and warranty. Not looking to break the bank, but willing to pay for quality. Thanks

Florocarbon Leaders?
Either/or If I use a leader on a spinning outfit I just use lighter flouro that may be spooled on another reel. For my flipping setup I am currently using a free sample of Tatsu which should last me a long time. I have only retied the leader twice this year. I have never used the "specific" flouro leader spools you can buy. I think that is primarily used on offshore aplications.

Crankbait Hooks
On some smaller crankbaits and wakebaits on occasion I am experiencing problems with the belly and rear hooks getting hooked on each other. What's the best solution? Remove one hook all together? Swap out one or both hooks? If I swap hooks is it better to put the larger treble in the rear? Any other suggestions?

Best Smallmouth Fishing In Illinois
You've got the Kank, Des Plaines, Fox, Shabonna. Take an hour ride to the lakefront and fish the harbors. You'll be fighting for space now as the kings are moving into shore. Take a 5 hour ride and get up to Sturgeon Bay, WI.

How Often Do You Switch Your Lures During A Day Of Fishing?
Welcome. First, you didn't mention if you're fishing from a boat or from shore. If you're in a boat it's much easier to change because you've brought more than 1 or 2 rods with you. If you are shore bound there are a couple baits you should carry with you in a couple colors. Spinnerbaits aren't always the ideal bait to catch fish and different baits work better in different situations. I take 6 rods out with me. A jig, a topwater, a swimjig, a spinnerbait, a worm, and depending on the water I'm fishing a crank or jerkbait. I tie them up the night before. How often I change presentations depends on the fishing. No matter how many times I change baits I always end up back to the jig.

Older Fenwick Hmg Rod, What Do You Think??
I have 1 older HMG/AV 7'6" telescopic flipping rod rated 3/8-2oz and 2 newer 7' HMG's rated 1/4-1oz that I purchased for this season. I jig fish alot and the rod is comfortable to throw jigs all day long. The 2 newer rods are set up: 1 for topwater but I haven't caught a topwater fish all year, and 1 I throw either t rigged worms or small cranks. When I bought the HMG/AV 3 or 4 years ago, it was an older model. I believe it listed for $129. but I was able to get it for $110. I think they are an awesome rod for the money.
