  1. The money is in the motor. If the motor checks out ok it's worth the money. See if you can take it to a mechanic and have a compression test. A new 50hp is 5k. You'll have to make a judgement call on the hull, the trolling motor etc. You may need to put more money into the boat. Keep that in mind.
  2. Your wife set it up that way because you are buying too much stuff.
  3. Whodathunkit a Continental kit on a bike?
  4. Yeah. His name is Dr. Phil Goode. Do you know him? and yes I'll help.
  5. The shoulders are small, only 5-6lbs.I'll already have 4 days of prep(festering in delicious goodness) before they hit the smoker. I'd just rather smoke 2 smaller ones for 6 hours than a large one for 12hrs.
  6. I normally smoke a 4-6lb shoulder roughly an hour a pound @ 225degrees. If I put a second shouler of similar weight in, will I need to smoke it longer and if so, about how much? Is there a rule of thumb for this? It's a verticle propane smoker, if that matters.
  7. I misread the post. I thought it said Hooters Calendar.
  8. On your way back from the grocery store, can you drop me off a gallon of milk?
  9. I must be going to the wrong Dr.
  10. Who uses gloves anymore?
  11. Not familiar with the Columbia but heres my 2cents worth. 'Glass will give you a better ride. Tin will be more forgiving when you hit bottom. Tin boats tend to catch wind and blow around. They sit higher in the water and tend to be lighter. I have a 17' tin boat and the addition of a MinnKota iPilot has helped dramaticly, especialy in river and current situations. If shallow water and a hard bottom is a common occurence, tin is probably your best bet. Look fo a boat with enough storage for your needs. Enough HP to get you where you want to go. Don't skimp on the trolling motor and better electronics will make your job easier.
  12. Respont...Is that a word? Can I get a black t-shirt that says "STAFF" on the back?
  13. For me, my bites have predominantly been on jigntrailer in the shallows or swimjigntrailer in the open water. The lake I mostly fish is relatively shallow with an average depth of 4ft. The shallow fish have been tight to structure, and hitting soft. The open water fish have been relating to weeds. There is a lack of deep structure/cover and swimming the jig thru the weeds in 8-10fow has brought out bass, cats, walleye, and musky, catfish being the most agressive of all the species. My son has had success throwing a fluke underneath overhanging trees right up to the shoreline. You'll need braid and alot of patience to pull this off.
  14. Glad you found the site. Post a couple pics if you can. I'm from the Chicago area.
  15. My 6 year old laptop took a crap. My brother-in-law the family IT guy says the hard drive crashed. I bought a new laptop and will be bringing it to him when I have a chance but it won't be soon. In the mean time I'm trying to restore what I can. I have been on the phone with Norton trying to locate my "online backup files". After claiming I never had the backup activated, they found them but it seems they are not downloading. I was told 2-3 days. After 36 hours it still shows 0.1% downloaded. The CS call center appears to be not in the United States and the CS reps seem to know as little as I do about computers. As far as pictures, I have a photobuckrt account. Can I retrieve my old fishing pics? Maybe put them in a folder or something? Can't figure out the iTunes. I probably lost all that??? Can I get my Office 2007 back? Any advice for the future in case this happens again? Thanks
  16. Grin and bare it and pray some hotties pass by. During the boating season on IL which is roughly Memorial Day to Labor Day my home lake/river system sees 3.5 million visitors, with most of that being on the weekends. When I fish tournaments, I try and prefish during the week, and on tourney day I pray for rain . I don't fish there recreationaly during the "season". I'll head out to Lake Michigan or a couple small lakes to fish for fun.
  17. With comments like this I should request my thread be locked.
  18. The tides have turned. Like I said...kids being kids. As far as the spanking thing. Go out to a family restaurant sometime and watch the way many of the kids act. Drives me crazy to see parents do nothing. Spanking and child abuse are two completely different animals and should not be confused.
  19. I just loaded my boat. A guy unhooks his 26' cruiser from the winch on the trailer. I'm guessing to save time and be courteous to the other boaters. He gets in his truck and steps on the gas. The cruiser was on a trailer with rollers and in the gravel it went. I didn't stick around to see what happened. Glad I wasn't waiting to launch.
  20. Tournament day is the one day a month my son pays for breakfast. 6 donuts for 2 bucks at the gas station. Can't break tradition.
  21. I would imagine light spinning tackle would be fine. Baitcasting may be a bit difficult.
  22. I know a couple guys that float tube in some small ponds, and do quite well. Not for me though.
