  2. Even if you like Roland, you have to admit similarities with this character.
  3. That's a nice one, Dwight. Did you get a weight on her? Beautiful fish!
  4. senile1 replied to cato's topic in Fishing Reports
Catching a few fish on a Winter outing is always a good thing, especially when shared with a friend or family member.
  5. How you fish a creek channel depends on how it is used in the path to the spawning grounds. If it is a main channel that bass use as a deep water home during winter you would probably want to start at channel bends, sharp breaks, or feeder creek intersections that have a path of breaks leading from them to the spawning areas. If it is a feeder creek leading into a cove or down the side of a point it could be used as a highway to the shallows and the fish could be scattered along it. Generally though, they would be positioned on different breaks along that channel. It takes some time on your water to determine how a channel and its breaks are being used or whether they are used at all.
  6. I've seen the 832 but I've been very satisfied with Sufix Performance braid so I haven't had a reason to try it.
  7. You must be living right, Chris. Thanks for the heads up.
  8. I am similar. I am usually late to the lure buying frenzy when a new "hot" bait comes out because I want to hear about the lure from a few people whose opinions I trust. Regarding colors I generally have dark baits, light-colored baits, and a match-the-hatch or natural bait. If I loose all of the baits of one of these colors then I will go out and buy more of that class of color.
  9. Welcome to Bass Resource, Jon.

    Welcome to the BR community.
  12. Welcome to the forum, Mike.
  13. Below is the link to the previous thread regarding this study. I have also included a link for an article about the study. Paul is this the same one? http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1239807122/0 http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/04/090414153532.htm
  14. If this is the Illinois study, we had a thread or two about this one a year or two ago. I find it very intriguing and relevant.
  15. Welcome to the Bass Resource community.
  16. The older you get, the more you realize how short life really is.
  17. I won't repeat the items already mentioned. For your boat add the following to the list: spare prop spare cotter keys for the prop nut charged fire extinguisher air horn spare prop for trolling motor wing nut, washers, and sheer pin for trolling motor
  18. Yes, both. If you pitch with your right and use a lefty reel, then you're ready to set the hook as soon as the bait hits the water. For moving baits, I prefer a righty, since my left (palming) hand doesn't leave the reel during the cast. No hand switching involved. If I do move my left hand, for a two-handed-swimbait-chucker-cast, its back on the reel before the bait hits the water. Old habits die hard when you don't make an effort to change them. I pitch and flip with my right hand and reel with the same hand using baitcasters, but I cast with the right and reel with my left hand on spinning reels. Being the logical person that I am it really doesn't make sense. I just do it because I've always done it this way. I'm deciding now that the next baitcaster I buy for pitching/flipping will be a lefty. I need to break this habit. Like John, I usually cast with two hands for other techniques so it doesn't come into play there.
  19. I must have missed the thread about the binding when wet during one of my many sabbaticals from the forum. I have two Symetres and I've never experienced this. Maybe I just haven't got them wet enough. For the price range I think they are great reels.
  20. He did say "Then you have those that don't watch the tip or the line and try to do everything by feel." If the tip moves I agree that you should feel it, but I have seen the line move without any vibration reaching the tip so line movement is another matter. In that case, you should be a line watcher or you will miss fish.
  21. I took these pictures last summer on Norfork Lake. A cold front was rolling in and it made a nice wrinkle in the sky.
  22. I use 8 - 10 lb Seaguar InVizX for deep cranks and 12 lb Sufix Elite for shallow cranks.
