Retire To Bass Fish!
Congratulations! I suspect this is just about every bass fisherman's dream who hasn't retired yet. I still have a few years to go but time passes quickly. Plans are in place and I'm working toward doing the same thing.

Half head of lettuce - Humor
A man in a Florida supermarket tries to buy half a head of lettuce. The very young produce assistant tells him that they sell only whole heads of lettuce. The man persists and asks to see the manager. The boy says he'll ask his manager about it. Walking into the back room, the boy said to his manager, 'Some jerk wants to buy half a head of lettuce.' As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, 'And this gentleman has kindly offered to buy the other half.' The manager approved the deal, and the man went on his way. Later the manager said to the boy, 'I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people who think on their feet here. Where are you from, son?' 'Canada, sir,' the boy replied. 'Well, why did you leave Canada?' the manager asked. The boy said, 'Sir, there's nothing but whores and hockey players up there.' 'Really?' said the manager. 'My wife is from Canada .' 'No crap replied the boy. 'Who'd she play for?'

Name a fishing technique that you absolutely LOATHE!
I can't say I have a technique that I loathe. I have a couple that I'm not that good at but that's my own fault.

We lost a true friend
yup I was thinking much along these same lines. Maybe starting a "Best of Thread", to highlight some of the over 6,000 posts he made over the years. The man had a unique wit along with an untold amount of knowledge on bass fishing and life in general. Not an exact quote, but what he replied to Senile only a few days ago would be the perfect title: "It's called a plane ticket - The back seat is open!" I was thinking about Jack's passing a lot yesterday. I went back and re-read that thread. Life is so short and even shorter for some of us. I have spoken with some friendly people on this forum and it makes me realize that I should make more of an effort to meet and fish with some of them. You never know when they could be gone.

We lost a true friend
Geez. I don't know what to say either. Jack was a great contributor, a kind man, and always had an informed opinion. I will miss him though I never met him. He was a great example of the kind of person we should strive to be on this forum and in life. I was hoping to meet him as he always told all of us he had a seat in his boat ready and waiting. His family is in my thoughts. This is really depressing.

What do you base your selection of new lures you never used before
My decision making criteria for the selection of new lures incorporates the ideas mentioned by Paul Roberts and J Francho. Different conditions and different lakes require different presentations. I am not an extreme lure junkie but I'll buy a lure if I think it will fill a niche that no other lure in my tacklebox will fill.

Bass boat crash
Yeah, we had a good long thread on this video quite awhile back. It still blows me away every time I see it.

Rage Tail?
I cover them with Megastrike as well. Only a couple of bags in my supply of Rage Tail Craws are coffee scented but I bought quite a few bags of my favorite colors earlier in 2010 and have yet to use them all. I wasn't aware that all of the new baits would be scented.

Now what do I do?
If you already have new line on your reels and ice out isn't until March you'll have plenty of memory on your reels spooled with Fluorocarbon, mono, and co-polymer lines by then. You can always change your line again.

Blizzard In The Mid South
It could be worse. It looks like about 6 inches on the ground now and the snow isn't supposed to let up until this evening here in northern KC. I really get the Winter doldrums when I'm stuck inside.

Bayou Outdoors first team tournament
Those are some nice bags. I looked at three Toledo Bend lake reports for January 8th and all provided water temperatures from the upper 40s to as high as 55 degrees in protected coves. You go straight from late Fall to pre-spawn. I hate you guys.
