Your path: Tried-n-True, or Something-New(?)
Toledo Bend was voted the #1 bass fishing lake in America 2 years in a row. Shortly after that the lake lost all it's grass drastically changing how the lake fished. Many believed the notoriety increased pressure to the point the lake was "fished out". What happened is the fish moved from grass to timber. The anglers stayed with the "tried & true". 50+ years on Toledo Bend you learn how to adjust to the lake.

The pros dont know much more than we do
The pros dont know much more than we do Know: be aware of through observation, inquiry, or information. The same information is available to us that is available to the Pros. The difference is what you do with the information. The question was NOT if we can compete with the Pros.

Big vs regular size lures?
In the hands of an experienced swimbait fisherman a 8-10" swimbait is deadly. Not so much in the hands of a inexperienced angler. In the hands of an experienced Jig fisherman a Jig-n-Craw is deadly. Not so much in the hands of an inexperienced angler. Throw what you have confidence in! I would be willing to bet Tom @WRB caught those big bass on a Jig-n-Chunk because he has total confidence in that jig.

Broke the bone in my left thumb into 3 pieces twice with a framing hammer. Shot a 16d nail through my left hand with a nail gun. Cut a 45° chunk out of my left thumb with a hand saw (don't ask). Broke my nose with a pair of #9 Kliens. Permanently destroyed my lower back & both knees walking stilts installing acoustical ceilings.- Post a photo a day!

“If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you confuse him for a lifetime.”- are you a "Safe-Bet" type of fisherperson.?
A friend who guides on Toledo Bend has a favorite saying, the bass are always biting somewhere, it's our job to find somewhere.- The Right Place-The Right Time
Sometimes it is as simple as being in the right place at the right time. Aiden caught this bass under the dock we're standing on. In the background is a boat launch. Aiden asked if I could tie a jig on for him, so I did. He took the rod flipped the jig under the dock. I just started to shake my head when he set hook. He had seen the bass before asking for the jig & had been watching videos about flipping docks. He said, I saw a dock, a bass, & figured all I need is a jig!- 105 degrees. what are the bass gonna do?
That's what we call matted. Definitely punching & frogging Do ya know what kind of grass?- Old movies....

- Recommend A Good Worm Rod
That's one of my favorite rods for Texas Rigs & Jig-n-Craws- Bass Buries Itself In The Weeds
Control the head ? 8# test or 80# test you have to move em as fast as your equipment will allow. No hesitation, no pause, & certainly no stops. I see guys set hook & about the time their rod tip reaches apex they hesitate. Their reasoning to feel the pull verifying hook up.- Bass Buries Itself In The Weeds
I'm of the mindset, stick em first, figure out how to land them second. I'm also of the mindset, you have to be in complete control from the moment you set hook. A punch rig is not necessary, proper technique is. Control the head...control the body! This bass was caught in thick partially matted hydrilla from the bank on 15# Big Game. My grandson Aiden says this is what they look when ya stickem!- When do they change from crayfish to crawfish?
Crawfish – We have Cajun crawfish not crawdads or crayfish.- If You Could Go Back
