  1. Thank you. The AmTak seats are OK, but I prefer Tennessee grips with slide rings on my spinning rods These are for a customer. That's just a peg in the upright of my wrapper to rest a rod on for photos or hold a spool of thread.
  2. Thank you. That is the 16mm Aero. The OD of the grip is a whisker under 1". I turn it to 1" and keep test fitting and sanding til it's right.
  3. Got the bug to work on some rods. Local bait shop needed a large grip set for a saltwater rod they were building, so I pulled out the big rod tools and put this split grip together for them. That kinda put me in the mood, so I whipped out this simple set for a pair of 7'2" ML Immortals.
  4. I see lots of rods come through my shop. By far, the worst ones as far as fit and finish go are NRXs and Conquests. Gaps in thread. Excessive finish on the guides. Gobs of useless epoxy under the reel seats.
  5. I have the Emeraldas Air LT3000S-CHX. I bought it because it looked like it would go nicely with the Belieze Blue color on the SCIV Inshore. Spoiler alert......it does. I haven't finished the rod yet, so I haven't even spooled it up. I think I may turn an acrylic knob to match the reel seat insert and fighting butt.
  6. Rodgeeks C4s don't even feel as crisp as a SC4 to me.
  7. I was told by one of my suppliers to expect between a 10% and 100% price increase on Fuji products, effective March 1.
  8. In my experience, the only thing split grips do is save the rodbuilder some money on grip material. I do like to put the weight keeper in the split on dropshot rods though.
  9. The Legend Elite and Legend X are also built with the SC6 material in the lower section. It's not exclusive to the Legend Extreme.
  10. That blank is $220 + $15 to paint + $20 shipping. Many St. Croix SCV models are available through Rodgeeks. The Legend extremes have Diawa's AGS carbon fiber guides. Those are not available to custom builders.
  11. When I ordered my boat in 2005, I told them I didn't want any batteries, or trolling motor or charger or sonars. I wouldn't expect a new boat to come with batteries now.
  12. I think @Lucky Craft Man ordered a couple musky rods from them. Maybe he'll chime in.
  13. Could be, but including Dwight, that's 4 different people, 4 different boats and 4 different trucks. Only common denominators are Carlisle tires and Lund boats.
  14. My trailer tire experiences have been:. I'll put anything on my trailer as long as it ISN'T a Carlisle. They were OEM on my trailer, blowout, warranty replacements, blowout. 2 of my friends had similar experiences with Carlisle on their new boats too.
  15. St Croix keeps pretty tight control of their pricing. Normally, you won't find them under MSRP unless the model has been discontinued.
  16. My boat never saw the water this year. I went out with a friend once in August. I caught a 10" spot. To say it was a crap year is an understatement.
  17. I hold with pinky behind the stem and 3 fingers in front.
  18. My Vanquish 2500SHG weighs 5.93oz with line installed.
  19. My favorite DS rods have a TN grip, as does my tube rod, but I use the slide rings. If the handle is made properly, the reel doesn't come loose
  20. I'm running 3 sonars on the same battery. Your issues will come from the motor on the same battery as the sonars.
  21. Mudhole has a few. I have a customer request a rod built on one, but it hasn't arrived yet
  22. Yea. I'm kinda like that. I have 6 or 7 MLXF rods I normally use and the rest of my rods sit. I even build others and never use them. It's a sickness.
  23. They're all too expensive! Lol. I wish what I want was only $59k! I built a DVX19 to compare to the 1975 Pro-V that I've been eyeing up. The Vexus is actually $600 less than the Lund.
  24. Tube rod. Cross tail shad rod. (DS) Shad shape worm rod. (DS) Gulp goby rod (DS) General ML DS rod
