I watch for top water action as I’m heading we’re I want to start fishing for the day. If I see any, I’ll throw top water as the sun comes up. Then I switch to ribbon tail Texas rigged and working the bank

That’s a great idea, I just thought of getting a picture close to my head for size reference. But try to hold it close and reach out and get a pic, and wanting to get the fish back in the water fast. Didn’t work out to good …. Crap pictures. my old PB was 5lb 1oz. Any guesses on what these would be?

No I didn’t take any measurements. I just grabbed two rods, terminal tackle box and a few bags of worms. Going to grab a few hrs before dark. No scales, tape or even hard baits.

I can’t believe it, I didn’t have my scales with me so I don’t know the weight. But I know they are bigger than any one I caught before. And sorry for the bad pictures, I was trying to hold the fish as close to me as I could and my other hand as far away as possible. I should have taken the time and set the timer. I was pretty stoked. I caught the first one which beat my PB, I took pictures and fixed my bait, fished about 50 ft and caught the second one right away on the same worm. It was a Basspro ribbon tail, 7.5 inch in June bug color with Garlic scent. Texas rigged.

I noticed in some aquariums the bass look washed out coloring. Was told it was that they didn’t have the right lights, no UV, and effects the coloring of the fish . Shallow Bass get more sun and are different coloring than the bass that stay deep. Don’t know if that’s true or not, just what I was told in passing.

She’s right about it’s good it happened closes to home …But couldn’t it have happened on the way home, after you fished for the day. Glad no one got hurt.

I keep a Tex-rig, top water and a rig with a wild-eyed storm paddle tail ( for when I pass the shiner markers) on the front casting deck. In the rod holders, I’ve got a crank bait rig with a rattletrap tied on and all purpose spare spinner and bait caster rig.

Yes I still get excited…. Last night, I was getting my poles ready, putting line conditioner on, rigging some of them with what I want to start with. Counting all the fish I haven’t caught yet …. Haha
