  1. Thanks for your replies I am going to call the Tackle Trap.
  2. I don't know what happened I had a bunch of info in the post. Lure Wt 1/4 to 3/4, line wt 10 to 20, rod length not longer than 7' but looking for a little shorter. Been thinking of the Orochi XX MH jerkbait special but I doubt if it is much good on bottom fishing. I can't find Much in stock on the Orochi xxx but not sure about the handle. I don't want a rod with a split grip handle or micro guides. Price I don't think I would go over $400 but who knows. The Spec's above are not set in stone except for the rod length & handle.
  3. Looking for help selecting a rod not over 7' for bottom fishing.
  4. I have 2 Metanium MGL's XG's that I purchased from Digitaka in Japan. I have some decent time on the water with them with no issues as of yet. I also have a couple Of Scorpion XG's that I like as well & that sells for less money. Again I have no issues with either of them. I wonder if there could be a manufacturing difference for the different markets.
  5. When you as old as I am the goal is to still be breathing on 1/1/18

Cocoons are the fit over type. I like the frame on them, they really keep the sun out. I had my lenses changed to my prescription.I have been using them for years. The Lenses have been changed twice. I am in the process of having Cataract Surgery(2nd eye on the 28th). The doctor told me I'll probley need reading glasses so I am waiting to see what I am going to do. I have purchased 2 pair Of Cocoons from Tackle Warehouse for $49.95 each. I have used Amber & Gray lenses for years so this time I changed from Gray to Blue Mirror/Black Frame but stayed with the Amber/Black Frame. If it ends up I just need reading glasses I will save several hundred dollars as long I can see to tie knots. If I was only getting one pair it would be Amber.
  7. I purchased 2 Sierra rods for my grandson. They were a little long for him so he did not like them. They were a 6'8" M/H & a heavy. The M/H fished closer to a medium & the heavy closer to a M/H. The reason I chose them over a couple of other brands that had full cork handles was the up graded cork handles. I fished them for 10 or 12 days before selling them, I just did not like them they fished to light.
  8. He is a idea. I have a Plano tackle bag that I store under the step to my front deck in my boat. It's a 3700 & I changed to 3701 boxes & went from 4 to 6 boxes. They make a 3601 also so you would also have room for your bags of worms. It worked out so well for me I have changed all the 3700 boxes in my tackle storage system on the boat to the 3701 boxes. I can now carry a bigger selection of what I carry but just not as many of 1 item. I just replace what I need as needed which not that often. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Plano-ProLatch-trade-StowAway-Utility-Boxes/737190.uts?searchPath=%2Fbrowse.cmd%3FcategoryId%3D734095080%26CQ_search%3Dplano%26CQ_st%3Db
  9. Catt I am still laughing.
  10. I have several DC reels & a couple of the Scorpion MGL reels. Just the weight difference alone would would make me go with the MGL let alone the performance.
  11. I have to keep this a secret because no one told the bass on Santee Cooper that the T-rig no longer works.

  13. Here you go. http://aquaplant.tamu.edu/
  14. T/W sells a Sierra 682 & I would use it for the minnow style baits. I like some forgiveness when using treble hook baits. I don't own a 682 & if it is like the 683 & 684 a tad lighter then stated, 5/8oz. might be a little heavy. If that is the case I would look at a different brands medium action.
  15. I am with Catt & Raul on this. If I am Texas rigging I want a solid hook set so I am using a M/H or Heavy action rod.
  16. If they are the Curado CU-200 series those reels are bullet proof. I say $75 to $100.
  17. I have fished with the Sierra 683 & 684 & as fishnkamp stated they are a tad lighter then stated. But for the lures you are want to use it for I would get the 682. You will find the better grade of cork used on the handle is a nice feature also. Good luck with your choice.
  18. I have been using a Shimano Metanium 7:1.1 but this year it will be a Shimano Metanium XG 8:5.1. I believe in fishing those baits fast. When the water is warming up in the spring they will catch it, they will react to it.
  19. I use a piece of pipe insulation & keep them on the inside. I store it in a rod locker. y
  20. Catt that was a excellent post it should help many on this site.
  21. If Tackle Warehouse has what you are looking for & it's over $50 it ships for free. Check with some of the sponsors on here they might also.
  22. I can remember those days. Many times having oatmeal, potato pancakes,or peanut jelly sandwich for supper, Getting needed clothing for Christmas & not much of that, mom repaired a lot of our clothes.one of our best Christmas mornings was when my sister got a new store bought doll & I got a cap gun & holster. I feel family life was much better then. I could go on & on about growing in the 40's but so as not to bore y'all I'llshut this down with I hope y'all had a Merry Christmas & will have a great New Year.
  23. I thought that video was more about the products he was using though he did show a couple ways to fish a lipless crank bait. On a bigger lake I look at maps before even leaving the house & pick a area or 2 that looks productive & find a ramp that is fairly close that has a store & gas. Then I'll ride the area looking for promising spots. I use my eyes, sonar, sidescan, downscan, & GPS mapping. I realize everyone might not have all the electronic features but you have eyes. That is what we had to use before depthfinders. Watch for wildlife along the banks, especially shore birds. Look for cover, grass(what type),wood(tree's , docks), rocks etc. Look for baitfish put your trolling motor down & move around in the grass & watch for what moves. Look for openings in the grass & if you have sonar look changes in the bottom especially depressions. If the area has this start fishing.
  24. What kind of birds are they? Do you see them dive into the water to catch the bait Or do you just see them surface with the bait? Is a flock of birds or just a few swimming around in the area?
  25. Just got a E-mail from a friend That said he is doing better & wants to go home. They said maybe tomorrow if he is doing better.
