  1. Nope. When I am fishing with a buddy, we do not compete. His fish and my fish are our fish. We have a good day fishing whether we catch them or not.
  2. I’ve lost two great fishing partners. When they died, I asked for a fishing plug from their tackle boxes. Now, every year, I use those lures to catch a fish on, just to remember the good times and good friendships we had. You can fish alone all you want, but treasure a good fishing friend!
  3. Use them. You’ll catch fish on them.
  4. Nothing has changed really. They are still hard to find and catch at times. Good luck to you!!
  5. My nephew’s son and a 23 pound, 38 inch striper.
  6. I’d try to make it land in the water!?. Sorry!! Sling it under docks, at brush and rocks. Openings in weeds. Open water. Throw it at everything.
  7. Try sanding to 320 or finer, sealing with a sanding sealer, then lightly sanding again to 320, then primer and paint.
  8. I wish I knew the total number of fish I have caught on “purple rubber worms “ over the last 50 years.
  9. I think you have something here! I’ve hit 3 deer in my red truck. Two while on the way to deer hunt and one coming back from deer hunting. Actually they hit me. All 3 hit on the side of my truck. Glad you weren’t injured.
  10. A big part of their success is time spent on the water learning rather than reading forums to learn. You can’t beat time on the water.
  11. I don’t know why you would. It will not work very well. You won’t be happy.
  12. My mystery of life is this: where does the white go when the snow melts?
  13. So much for the ole first cast jinx. Way to go.
  14. Don’t sweat it. Us old guys never turned down free fishing stuff either. Send me a pm. I’ll send you a box of stuff to try.
  15. Age, back and knees have forced me to sit most of the time now. ?
  16. I say fish it all. Some places are better sure, but I just keep casting and hope for the best.
  17. Me too. I wouldn’t have dreamed Claytor Lake would have been nominated. Wish I could wet a line in each place.
  18. That’s a pretty snobbish reply. I have had to change the way I fish. I can’t stand on the deck all day and cast like I used to. Now, I sit and cast, or use live bait or troll. I’m still doing what I like to do. That is fish. I wish you good health in years to come.
  19. Good luck finding anything. I haven’t been able to buy ammo in a year.
  20. I’ve bent the hooks and loops some to tighten mine up at times.
  21. Sign of our times. I think it is a tragedy added to a tragedy. A lot of people were hurt by these deaths, including her. Ten million might heal the hurt. Might not too.
  22. None! I’d stick to live ‘minners’.
  23. I’m a lefty. 50 years ago I ordered Mitchell 301 and 309’s with right hand retrieve. I cast left handed and reel right handed. By the way, I still have two 301’s and two 309’s. Might have to break one of them out and do it old school this year.
  24. Devcon 30 minute epoxy works for me.
  25. Rocks and current are your friend!!
