  1. I catch fish every year on the old ‘bomb’ style Bombers, and I’ll take all the Model A Bombers you want to dispose of. They still catch fish just fine for me.
  2. I can’t believe an hour either way twice a year causes so much trouble for people.
  3. https://www.wfxrtv.com/news/local-news/new-river-valley-local-news/vt-entomologist-reports-of-flying-giant-spiders-exaggerated/?fbclid=IwAR05AxyKe1XlBtYhvOEBmob6b4DKqSoryl-HncR11epFwbHXT4QRCYcjQr4 strange how things like this get started.
  4. Yep! “When in doubt, do without. “
  5. I’ve killed deer that dropped dead on the shot and I’ve killed some who ran a ways and died. Can’t tell the difference in taste. Now, a rutted up buck is a different matter.
  6. I’m proud of every heart shot I’ve ever made. It means I did my job and did it very well. There is a growing group of people who love this kind of discussion among sportsmen. I don’t see the need to seek a moral high ground over another outdoorsman. I assume all of us on here enjoy the outdoors in more than one way. Fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, photography…it’s all good. Enjoy it and share it with family and friends.
  7. It’s a combination of a lot of things. Just like my reasons for fishing, camping, woodworking… I enjoy it. I enjoy the time with friends. I like to eat meat.
  8. If I was trying to make a living with them I’d go with Milwaukee.
  9. Goes in the nostrils of a drunk to lead them along and keep them from harm. ??
  10. We looked forward to the shore lunch on our trips to Canada. Fresh fish, potatoes and beans.
  11. Exactly!! I have caught a bunch of smallmouth on Muskie plugs.
  12. I don’t think it’s worth the effort. Not worth loosing a nice fish on something like that. I’d suggest you spend your time on quality tackle making.
  13. Good for you my friend. I would have no idea what to do with them things!! Insure them probably!! They sure are pretty.
  14. Thanks for your service. I had to make that same decision several years ago. I don’t run calls anymore but I’m still a life member of the department.
  15. Nope not for me. And if my fishing partner broke that out, I probably wouldn’t bring him again!?
  16. 98% of my bass fishing is for smallmouth. I do prefer a full jig. Black and/or brown has always been good to me. Just have had trouble making them “pretty” but the fish usually don’t mind the hair sticking out the wraps. Hope to improve the look with your advice.
  17. Thanks again guys for everyone’s excellent advice and help. I don’t tie much, but it’s something to help shorten the winter. I know a lot of you can relate. I’ll give it a try and post the results later.
  18. Thanks guys. I appreciate the help. I’ll give it a try again!
  19. I’ve tied a few jigs over the years, but always had trouble with the hair flaring out and being difficult to tie. Are there secrets to doing this better?
  20. New River, December 31,2021. Didn’t catch any fish, but sure was a great morning to be out. 60 degrees!!
  21. I can’t imagine not finding the right color. Seems like I’ve seen millions!!!!!
  22. I’d try strapping a 2x4 to the pole and using it as a wrench to spin the pole in the pvc. If you can get it to move maybe you can pull it out.
  23. Nope, not for me either. I’ll take Gunsmoke and Walton re-runs over it any day.
  24. You did all you could do. Lay your head on your pillow tonight and don’t worry about it. It’s a fish. I ain’t swimming, period.
  25. Well if I had $50 to spend on something, I’d buy whatever I wanted. Not what someone else wanted. Fish with what you have and treat yourself to a victory dinner after a good trip. Good luck.
