Not that this is your problem, but on some clevis parts I've used in the past were "spread out". Hard to explain, but instead of the holes being 90* to the wire, they were angled. Almost like a car wheel being out of alignment. Without seeing your spinnerbait, it could be a spacing problem, the clevis itself, a kink in the wire. Weight of the spinnerbait head as well. If the head is too heavy for the blade then you'll have the "planing" issues. Too light and the whole spinnerbait will either rotate during the retrieve or do a 180*.

Are you pouring you're own heads onto a prefab frame, bending a frame or buying pre-made and adding skirts and blades? No mater what and I'm sure you know this, use good swivels for your rear blade.

Hopefully they'll be in Southern, ME by then. Usually are, but the water temps are little colder this year for this time of year. Do me a favor, push some up north for me...

It happens a lot when you fish a topwater or spinnerbait. The fish will hit and miss or hit and spit, follow up with a stick bait and more often than not you can catch a fish, may not be THE fish, but a fish none the less.

Doesn't sound like color was the determining factor, because you all caught fish. Sounds like the bigger one's went after the bigger profile. This is a guess, there's more info needed like: * Clarity of water * Where were the fish caught, every one of them * Time of day the fish were caught * Whether conditions * Structure and/or Cover (I doubt you all fished the same structure at the same time) What should you use next time? Let a new pattern emerge, it's a new day and you rarely repeat what happened in the past.

After reading the article, it's hard to imagine that dumpster fire wasn't blazing years ago.

Just add reflective tape, so much easier and can be changed easily. Here's a spoon I made with nickel alloy and just added reflective tape to one side and left the smooth nickel alloy finish on the convex side.

I've been using this as both a t-rig and punch rig. Simple to make and works great. The bead for me is just another color hue the fish will see.

That surprises me. Here I am thinking a guy like you can make chicken salad out of chicken bleep! The spinnerbait is a lure that I have so much success with, I'm not sure I could break that addiction...LOL...The chatter type bait intrigues me tho and I may have to try it out. Just didn't know when the optimal time would be to use it. I got some great posts here and really appreciate it.

Thank you, this is great info. Sounds like the chatter type bait is a weed magnate and I fish a lot of weedy waters. How are chatterbaits for slow rolling deep in like early spring before the weeds start growing? no

I left a lipless crankbait in the truck over a hot weekend, it expanded into a pregnant lipless crank. Action on it was awesome tho.

Just curious as to what makes you fish one over the other? I tend to start out with a spinnerbait. I always like to see if the fish are active first, before settling down to a slower, more finesse type presentation - bottom bait fishing. I'll go from a spinnerbait to a swim jig for moving and covering water. The swim jig can at least be used as a grass/casting jig for slower presentations. I admittedly haven't jumped on the chatter type bait craze, although I think I need to. So if you do fish all 3 baits are there certain conditions or shall I say, more preferable conditions you like to fish one over the other? Would love to get your feedback. I'm always looking to dial in my lure choices.
