I use it for slower, more vertical presentations. I have eye issues so the brighter line is easier for me to see if there's any slight line tick

Glad you made it back safe and glad no one else on the water was hurt I got caught out in the ocean and was only about a half mile from shore. When the fog rolled in I couldn't see shore nor did I know which direction to go. Thankfully electronics navigated me back. There was zero visibility so putting the boat on plane was not a safe option for me. I will say that's it's true, you really lose all sense of direction in those conditions. Anyway, I wasn't going to post here but that post caught my eye.

Hey @Pafisher, welcome aboard! All good advice here but switching out lines can get pricey. If you are really set on braid with an FC leader, then the advice @LCG gave you to strip back some mono and tie the braid and use the mono backing. Otherwise the cost to add braid to your particular reel would definitely be an expense. If you find that the braid/FC switch is too expensive then strip off 100 - 150 ft of mono and blood knot/double uni knot/Albright knot more on. it would be the cheaper route. Grab some line conditioner while you're at it

Love the post! Totally agree that bass are resilient, no doubt, but I do think they get sluggish and don't feed as much in both of the seasons you mentioned. I was merely sticking with the theme of the thread. If underwater current would help usher in nutrients would that not help bait fish feed more and thus make bass more active? What about underwater current, does that not take the thermocline away? I have no idea, I'm not a marine biologist, but it does make me wonder. No worries about staying away from shad, we don't have them up here Well, kind of a lie, we have menhaden in our ocean

I fished a lot of smaller bodies of water (man made) that were/are stagnant during the mid - late summer months. I often wonder if those bodies would benefit from any type of underwater current which ushers in nutrients - not to mention O2 from an external source? Oh well just a thought

When I was in FLA for a week, I had a 4 hour window and went out with a guide. Kind of a last minute thing. As a fair warning, he said that the fishing had been terrible. I fished with a swim senko, T-rigged with an 1/8 oz sinker. Long casts, just swimming the bait and dropping inTo pockets. Must have caught closed to 15 in that 4 hour window. He said it was the best 4 hours he had with a client in a week. So ok, swim senko

It is shrink wrapped, but why 100% better? You have a tarp over a factory cover. Twice the protection. Maybe stand a piece of 2x wood in the middle and create more of a tee pee? My biggest winter boat issue is the mice that like to reside and not pay rent for the winter Sorry man, I'm sure you have it all figured out. I'll stop posting here now

When you say you doubled anchored, were you doubled anchored at 2 different points like fore and aft or 2 anchors at 1 point? Usually you want to be anchored at 1 point so your boat can scope with changes in current direction. And yes, time and experience is very important.

I basically have 1 eye so treble hook lures are out of the question for me at least
