@MickD, I’m not doubting either, just never liked the results. I’ve never tried it more than once so I may have not performed the procedure correctly the first time.

I repaired a 1 pc rod at the top with the same issue and hated it. I feel that the tip of a rod is so important to casting and sensitivity (feel) I found an old rod that was compromised on the lower section and without getting into specifics, I cut it around half way and did the same with the one I repaired the top section and made a 2 pc with the 2 sections. Really please with the results. I eventually epoxy the 3 pc into a 1 piece. Love it!

Second the chigger craw and paca craw. Fat cow jig strips (don’t knock it til you try it) are a quiet favorite so pls keep that between us

Oh man no.....I remember the day being good or bad....My professional life has my brain at capacity and I need a "cloud" account for life at home. Fishing isn't significant in my life to park space in my brain on...Hopefully after retirement ...

I have a small deck on my boat so I'm a minimalist when it comes to how much "stuff" is on the deck. So I'll play rod bingo. If one rod isn't doing the trick for whatever reason, even tho it worked before, I'll switch....and switch....until "bingo" ... that one worked To combat, I do you use MHF to eliminate the amount of switching

Not to my knowledge...I would think the bearing would weigh the back of the bait down making the prop more like a boat motor type prop than what it was intended to do .... Buuut ... I say that now, I'm sure I'll be surprised later

A cool video on fluke fishing. My son and I use the same fishing technique for bucktail fishing except we're on different structure than the sandy bottom John Skinner (video narrator) is fishing. So for 2025 I will be looking for more sandy bottom areas with narrow contours (as I usually look for) to give fluke and other sandy bottom species (haddock) in the coming season.

Even worse for @Swamp Girl, she's on the coast, I can only imagine the wind along the coast. Thanks for the weather report Swamp Girl, I was going to take a ride to my house in southern Maine. I think I'll stay home today and leave that ride til end of the week

Seems like more of a marketing thing than a quality thing. Reels that used a one-way roller bearing and maybe a spool bearing back in the day were just as smooth as what is produced today...IMO. Then the bearing craze and reels started getting marketed as a 'buy me, I have x-amount of bearings'. Or it was a weight thing and 'hey, buy me, I only weigh this much'. I not saying that there wasn't good enhancements in reels that contributed to todays products, but some of the enhancements went a little over the top. Again, my opinion

I find that scotch drinkers are either single malt or blended and really don't play in the same sand box with each other. At least, that is my experience and observations. I'm not a scotch drinker. My dad is and he was a blended guy. He started off with Dewars, Chivas Regal and ran through the color spectrum of Johnnie Walker. If he offers, I will have a small pour and it was usually Johnnie Black. Single malt has so many different flavor profiles and for single malt drinkers, they tend to settle in on a small few. I could be wrong, but that has been my observation. I'm guessing @TnRiver46 can offer up better knowledge on the subject matter.

Looking at the pic, the torx screw head in the reel looks compromised. Could be the pic making it look that way.
