  5. The 50# braid or 22# Shooter you already have are good choices to use as a mainline fir what you describe. I personally don’t see the need to use a leader. Get to know and understand your waters at all levels and chose what’s best based on what you’ve learned. Don’t let the brand loyal or flouro haters influence your choices. Make them yourself. Good Luck, it’s one of the best ways to fish. Mike
  6. I don’t know much about store brand knock off lures, but the BPS Pro Qualifier casting reels are one of the toughest reels made. With regular maintenance my 12yr old one still works as good as a few of my more expensive reels. Mike
  7. Agree I don’t have a Tharp model yet, but that is my next purchase. Mike

  11. If you choose an epoxy don’t use the 1 part product as that is mixed with latex. Because of the latex, it will have a tendency to crack and chip if the garage doesn’t have a somewhat stable temperature all year. That or a latex based product, which is the cheapest, will be fine if you plan on covering the floor. The 2 part epoxy is more labor intensive and goes on thicker. It will leave a shiny, almost polished look and be the most durable if you’re concerned with that. I suggest a solvent based epoxy instead of a water based fir the durability. An acrylic resin won’t be as shiny and best used for a floor that has major temperature swings. One thing…If you use an epoxy or acrylic, pay special attention to the way the manufacturer tells you to prep the floor. If you use an etching acid product be ABSOLUTELY certain that you get it all off. Concrete is porous on a microscope level. If you don’t get it all out it can undermine the floor itself. Mike
  12. Ditto Mike
  13. Wow Your timing sucks! ? Anyway, congratulations on your retirement, you’re gonna love it. Take care of yourself. I hope you’ll be feeling better really soon. Mike
  14. Mike The majority of the time when we travel we rent from either Enterprise or Budget because they usually have the best pricing. Pricing is based on if you’re gonna leave it at your destination or bring it back to where you rented it from, and the “class” of vehicle. You’re right a truck or SUV will cost more. We only rent the mid-size not the compact or sub compact, they’re less expensive but don’t have enough room. You’ll have to decide that when they ask which one you want. When they give you the keys inspect every inch of the car inside and out! Look fir a torn seat, stains, loose trim, dents and scratches. Make sure the attendant notes each on your contract. I’m so sorry for your loss Mike
  15. Happy Anniversary!! You got a keeper for sure! Mike
  16. A friend of mine who Loves those things makes 2 adjustments. 1) He bends the blade downward to get it to run shallower 2) He also bends the blade on an angle. which he does most of the time, he says that makes then “hunt” better. I don’t throw them enough to make a judgment either way. Mike
  17. This may or may not give you any insight.. I don’t throw neither one of them very much at all, sometimes I don’t even think about them. Theres always something else that I feel would be a better choice like a swim worm, spinner bait or a paddle tailed swim bait. But when I do the only consideration I give between the 2 is how heavy the vegetation is I want to get through. In scattered or sparse cover I’ll throw a chatter but it’s always down the list of choices. In heavier areas the swim jig is a little higher up the list. Mike
  18. My go to the last few years has been a white rage bug. I’ve used other craw type plastics over the years with the only consistent thing being that it’s always predominantly white. Conventional thinking is that only a soft plastic with or without some type of moving appendage will elicit a strike, but that’s not always the case. Depending on where and how a bed is positioned a floating plug will call a male up quick. Sometimes the bigger girls have to coaxed with a variety of angles, movements and target flips. Point is, targeting bedding bass isn’t always about size and shape. Mike
  19. You don’t understand it because you had the opportunity buy either and your preference for one or the other became apparent. That’s all it is really, just another one of those things in fishing that’s just a personal preference Mike
  20. Terrible So sorry to hear about this Mike
  21. That’s how I taught myself. Started with a tree stump then down to a coffee can. I remember when I first started practicing flipping, I went with the same can and ended up targeting an oak leaf. I use right all right handed reels and have no desire to change. When on a pitching bite, 80% of all subsequent pitches after the initial one are with my left arm. It takes practice and some getting used too, but once you get into a rhythm with it, there’s nothing to it. Mike
  22. Of Course they were, Don’t doubt it one bit. The majority of all fish caught were probably on it. Mike
  23. I’ve never been accused of being the smartest one in the room. All I know is what I know from having a line in the water. All mono will stretch and cheap All flouro will stretch but to a lesser degree while some of those will stretch comparatively…You get what you pay for. No braid will stretch. Mike
  24. Most all of Rage Products have the tabs to keep them straight when packaged. Just pull the tabs apart no need to use scissors. Mike
  25. You’re a good son! Gotta take care of Mama Mike
