  1. I have had mine for I don’t know how long and still cuts fine. One thing I did notice tho, lately I’ve had to pull the Smackdown a little tighter to get a clean cut but don’t have to with Power Pro Mike
  2. Soap and water and KVD Line & Lure in the guides. Mike
  3. @FloridaFishinFool @Goby Fellas Stay on topic. If one of you want to start a new thread about the plight of the Manatee go ahead and place your comments there. Mike
  4. The most scared I’ve ever been in a boat, Ever!…. The fastest boat I’ve ever fished out of was a Bullet. We were in a tournament, fully loaded. When my boater put on a hockey goalie’s mask in 80deg temp I knew what was coming. He told me to hang on with both hands, jam my feet and to ride with my butt off the seat. When we finally came down off plane I asked how fast we went, he said 92!! Never fished with him again.
  5. I don’t think it’s unbelievable at all!! To me the Curado E regardless of size is still the best reel Shimano ever made. As far as left reel ones, I would never own one and yes they are rare, just need to do some research. Mike
  6. The only time I change lines regardless of what it is, is when it gets low on the spool for whatever reason. Mike
  7. If a lineman wasn’t off sides…We would have Won! If FG kick wasn’t blocked…We would have won! It was meant to be!!!! Mike
  8. Best wishes to her Mike

Spaying is huge in that regard which just covers the bottom in inches and in some places feet of muck especially on the south shore but it’s not the only reason. Higher than “normal” water levels is another (they should do another study in March and report back) Also, the inordinate amount of runoff of fertilizer and other so called “nutrients” is another. Combine all 3 and no grass can establish itself to grow strong and healthy Mike

People have been predicting the demise of that lake for years. Tournaments and guides have been going on there for generations and have no doubt that will continue for many more. This not the first time that misinformation, scare tactics and sensationalism have been used to describe “The Lake” and it’s still there and so is Big Mama and her sisters. Just gotta know when to go where, but that’s always been the rule there. Is it healthy? No it’s not. Does it need help now? Absolutely The installation of levies, dikes, berms and man made canals have hurt that Lake more than people realized then and now. But dogs are certainly not dying after 4 hours swimming around. I and no one else I know have been hospitalized after “inhaling aerosolized toxins above the lakes surface” Captains For Clean Water is just one organization who have been fighting to correct years of mismanagement and political interference. They each have their own. I fish a toad with a constant retrieve changing speeds until a pattern emerges. *Tip that could help some… About 5-8ft from the boat I hit it hard to change direction instead of just reeling back. If you have a follower she will hit it hard more times than not. A hollow body frog is fished slower with a stop and go more than straight back. *Tip for this one…. Every time I stop I walk it a few times and start again. *Another… If in a pad field I’ll let it rest on one for a few seconds then slide, walk, repeat Mike
  13. If someone needs help I’ll help If someone has a question I’ll answer If someone asks for advise I’ll give it. If someone is putting someone else or even themselves in a dangerous situation I’ll calmly and respectfully only bring it up and move on Mike
  14. Every 10+ LMB I ever landed was exactly everything “it’s cracked up to be” and more. Especially after sight fishing off her bed. As was said, To each their own Mike
  15. Katie Its all relative to where and how you fish. if I fished out of a canoe in a pond I don’t see the need either. You’d be fine no matter where you go. Mike
  16. You can have my bag…. I remember when power poles first came out there were those who questioned the need, there were all kinds of reasons. Now almost every boat I’ve fished on in the last 10yrs has at least 1, now the vast majority have 2. When spot lock first arrived it had its doubters then too but as time goes on they’re getting more and more popular. Boats not having either are unquestioned in the minority. Honestly, If I ever buy a boat those are the first things I’m installing before it hits the water. Mike
  17. We’re done here Membership.. There is great information on this thread that can be informative and helpful along with others on here about the same subject. Live Long and Prosper Mike
  18. I rarely throw a stand alone jig but do use skirts when punching 90% of the time. All my skirts are rubber because of the way they flare where a silicone one doesn’t as much. There is a definite difference and advantage to that flare which has proven effective. Mike
  19. As of now I’ll be there the 2nd or 3rd week. Whoever gets there first should compare notes or meet somewhere in middle! Mike

Tommy’s passing has left a hole on this board that can never be filled. He and I built as good a relationship as you can have with someone built through years of posts on here and personal conversations. I will always consider him a friend even tho we never met, which I truly regret. Rest easy you “Crazy Cajun”! Mike
  21. When I use one it’s almost always a Zoom Super with a nail weight in its back. The horizontal fall elicits more strikes than any other and it’s not close. I prefer the nail over a keel weight because it falls slower and has a more solid set without the weight itself affecting it. As far as rigging I rig farther down exposing the nose so I can point it up or down depending on which direction I want it to dart when I hit it. In the summer pointing the nose down for a more pronounced dive and up when water cools has proven the most effective Mike
  22. I wish you the best of everything Mike
  23. Guys I edited this post because of personal comments made about a perceived lack of quality from manufacturing countries. I was going to lock it down, but there is some good information here including from this post that is informative and useful from which others can benefit. Just be aware, keep on point without disparaging personal remarks or it will be. Mike
  24. Cast with sidearm underhand lob and just before it hits the water lift the rod tip up slightly. With a spinning reel you’ll have to use your off hand as you would your thumb in a casting setup to control your accuracy Mike
