What's the ROF on the 6"?

I've got that exact bait already.

I like them, but they're for different areas and a different style of fishing than the squarebills most guys try to use them as IMO.

I use a 4/0 EWG Eagle Claw. 1-3 fish is pretty standard with most any beaver bait I've used except the Zman Palmetto bug.

Raymond from Mondo asked me if I wanted to fish Angler's Paradise with him last week. He said he'd rather buy my gas and pay for my fishing than rent their old boat, of course I jumped on that. It is a really cool place and very secluded. The owner is a super nice guy and you can tell he's completely obsessed with monster bass. He was telling stories about teeners, and you could tell he was 100% serious. Said he had a 12-14 pound fish investigate his bait this spring, he knows because a customer caught a 12 1/4 not long before he saw that one and he'd caught a 7.5 earlier that day. For those of you who don't know, it's a big strip pit. If you've never fished a strip pit, it's a very unique experience. Big fish in strip pits are odd fish, almost a different species of fish altogether. They will beat you more often than not. They beat us Monday for sure. I caught a good number of fish on a wacky rigged Senko (wacky rig is what the owner catches a lot of his big fish on). Raymond stuck with the bigger stuff on the bottom and it just did not work out. There was 2 other boats on the water that Raymond knew. One boat was struggling bad, the other was doing okay with a craw colored crankbait of all the odd things. As soon as he said that, I switched from a black and blue jig to a more craw colored jig. Wasn't long before a fish flashed on my jig, and then I caught a little one a few cast later. I stuck with the jig for the most part after that and caught a decent number of fish. Raymond switched to a craw colored jig also and finally caught a keeper sized fish. In the same area I fired a long cast and saw my line jump while it was sinking and I finally got to set the hook into some weight. Wasn't the monster I was hoping for, but it was an example of one of the more quality fish the lake holds. We saw a couple big ones guarding fry right by the ramp, but no interest in biting from them.

Once the little one gets a little bigger and we get a couple things paid off I will get down there. Hopefully that will be while the fishing is still hot down there.

Don't really have any needs or anything in mind, but I have 12-15 king shads already so I don't really need these ones, just wasn't going to pass them up for $4.

A small grub on a light jighead will catch any fish in a pond.

One of the best walleye trolling lures out there for this area. Works well for bass too.

My biggest rod and reel grass carp hit a 168 S waver (I watched it T bone it).

It finally quit raining for a day so I could mow the yard. I was wading through marsh and chopping water with the mower but I got it done, just in time to rain some more

I have 8 different rods I use for jigs for one reason or another. They're all either St. Croix LTB's or Academy Ethos rods.

I don't care if you want to drink while you fish, but if you try to bring more than 2-3 in my boat I'll leave you at the dock, I'm not babysitting anyone or having to haul someone back into the boat after they fall out.

NE Kansas, water temps are running in the high 60's low 70's.

I snagged one with a grub and spinning rod, they'll empty a spool in a hurry!

What kind of jighead?

Big dark colored jig or bladed jig. About the only 2 baits I fish after dark anymore.

Fish the edges of the grass. If you've ever read Ned's blog he fishes lakes with grass frequently. One of them gets packed with weeds, I know I fished the same lake today and even after they killed off a bunch of weeds it still has way more than most of the lakes in the area.

Spro Bronzeye shad works great in open water or heavy vegetation. We don't have much thick grass either so it's one of my favorites.

I'm guessing you're breaking at the knot because the line is burning itself when you tighten it down. I'll try to hold the knot in my mouth and tighten it slowly and smoothly with fluorocarbon and give it a good strong pull test before I fish with it. If it's breaking further up your line, check your guides like was suggested.

Seeing lots of bluegill beds starting to pop up around here too.
