  1. I cast shallow running crankbaits into the shallow water close to drop offs, and then reel them in slow until I get to the drop off and then start to burn it back.
  2. Unless you have a lure retriever you'll lose some baits this way, but I like to let my spots and traps sink all the way down to the bottom, sit for a few seconds, and then start a slow retrieve back.
  3. That's crazy. I wonder what they were thinking when the catching was going on.
  4. If I called in sick to go fishing there would be 2 days worth of work waiting for me when I got back.
  5. I'm wondering if this year will be like last year. Spring lasted a whole 3 weeks before we went into summer.
  6. Heddon Sonic. It was the first lipless crankbait I can remember using.
  7. I have some very good friends that don't fish and also have friends that fish that I would be afraid to get in a boat with.
  8. When I clean a reel I always think about how I've used it over the years. My Favorite would probably be some of the older reels I have. The Zebco 33 that I got from my grandpa comes to mind. My daughter learned how to fish using that one.
  9. I've found that sometimes the bass are on the jig as soon as it hits the water, but they're only checking it out. If I work it slow they won't touch it, but if I throw back into the same spot and give the jig a couple of quick jerks I will get bit.
  10. I can't remember where I got my pliers from. I've had them going on 20 years now and they still do their job. As far as hemostats go, I'll use them for removing small hooks from small fish like bluegill or crappie.
  11. I was looking at some pics of the pros out on the water today. Didn't look like too much fun out there.
  12. The nice thing about using bags is that when you're ready to leave you have something to put trash in.

I still have a yellow Little George, Lazy Ike, and Hula Popper. Growing up I had a friend that always fished with a black and yellow spinnerbait. I don't think he ever got skunked when he used that bait.
  14. For me it depends on the fish.
  15. It will be interesting to see what happens when they're fishing northern lakes later this year.
  16. Hope your Dad is doing better. That bass is a nice one to start the year with.
  17. I guess artwork is in the eye of the beholder.
  18. I'll fish different topwater baits with different retrieves. I've been on the water when the bass were hitting jitterbugs that are hardly moving, and fast moving buzzbaits, at the same time.
  19. A couple of public ponds that I fish have northern water moccasins in them. I love those things. Nothing clears out the weekenders faster than a snake swimming around.
  20. Is it happening anywhere else in the house, or just that one room?
  21. I fish heavy jigs and finesse jigs in the same type of cover. I use the same rig for both types of jigs.
  22. Beetle Spins. I've used these ever since I was a little kid, and the first and only time I have caught a bass on one was about 11 years ago.
  23. I didn't get all that about light penetrating the water because bass need to see. How do the bass feed at night I wonder?
