I would like to apologize
I made a post yesterday that was in poor taste and to any I offended I would like to say I am sorry. I would hate to upset any on this forum whom I consider one of the best websites and forums out there.

Strangest thing you've caught while fishing? Here's mine...
The front of Neal island right behind the mall is covered in them. A few years ago some guys got caught taking them and were fined big time. Blennerhassett used to have a bunch but the put rip rap through most of the island.

Strangest thing you've caught while fishing? Here's mine...
Hell I have a scar on my nose and one on my chest from those things in the Ohio river. I was diving off a boat about 100 yards off the front of one of the islands in the Parkersburg pool. Dove a little too deep and hit a shell bed. Bled like a stuck pig. If you ever walk the islands you will find hundreds of shells.

When will I learn I'm not in my 20s anymore?
After I got divorced, I decided it was a good idea to go to Vegas for 4 days and drink, golf and gamble. The only time we were in the hotel was to shower, change clothes and look at the clock to see what day it was. It took me a month to recover. The other time I can think of was going snowboarding with my friends kids as they hung out at the cabin. I used to snowboard all of the time in the winter. Good lord after 5 or 6 runs all I wanted to do was belly up to the bar and pray to sweet baby Jesus to make my legs quit cramping.

Most memorable childhood fishing experience
I know this will not be politically correct but it was with my father and his friend. I was around 8 and my brother was around ten and we were taking a trip to the mountains. My dad invited his good friend to go with us. My dad never fished but loved the outdoors and he never kept my brother and I from fishing. He knew we loved it. However this was a four hour trip and I had to sit on a five gallon bucket and my brother on a cooler all the way to mountains because dads jeep was only a two seater. I just remember my dads friend fishing and missing a bunch of trout. He started jumping up and down when a big brown broke him off and he fell into the water. It was also the first time that I walked up the mountain with my brother and fished a brookie stream. I caught my first brookie when I was 8 and have been chasing them ever since. My dad has been gone for 5 years now and those are the little things I remember. We always hunted together and he always went on the fishing trips just to be with my brother and me. I never appreciated how a man could go on so many fishing trips and never fished. After he passed I realized it was to just be with us. Now we take my little nephew fishing and try to share the stories with him.

That is what I was afraid of. I got through the first episode and a half if for no other reason then my love of Beetleguise.

Anybody watching Stranger Things on Netflix?
I tried. As an 80's kid I was really hoping to like it. However I have never been a science fiction type a guy. I might try to get through it on a rainy day. Seems like it has to be a binge watch show.

White Castle or Krystal
When my buddies and I showed back up at his dads house reeking of beer this was our reward or punishment depends on who you ask. His dad took us there and he bought our late night dinner. I do not remember I time in my life that I had projectile bodily fluids coming out of my body from some many different holes at one time. Tried to have it about five years later and ran to the bathroom as soon as I walked inside the place and crapped like crazy as I was dry heaving. The things we do when we are younger.

The customer may not always be right BUT...
It is amazing what passes for customer service these days. I was helping my friend with his driveway today and we were busting our butts off in the heat. His wife got a flat in her tire a few days ago and his wife took it the shop to get it fixed. Well they plugged the sidewall for ten bucks and sent her on way. Well she gets home and Eric says that is not going to work she is going to be driving it ten hours for vacation in a few days so he called and they said that she would have to order her a new tire as they do not keep them in stock. So they did. Fast forward to today and she takes her car in to have her tire put on. She waits for two hours at the shop and then they come out and tell her that they do not have the tire. Needless to say my friend was not happy. He calls and he gets transferred three times before someone will even talk to him. The sad thing is he has done business with them for 20 years. I for one will never do business with them again and I will make sure that I tell everyone I know that is thinking of doing business with them. I have blackballed a few companies in this town and I know that it has hurt their business over doing stuff like this.

Andy Griffith re-runs
It is hard to believe that Don Notts was supposed to be the straight guy and Andy the comedian. They started shooting the pilot and Andy went to the director and said that Don needed to be the funny one. My dad's old boss was roommates with Don while they were at WVU. He would tell some of the funniest stories about him.

How did you find out about BassResource?
I was looking up dirty sanchez one night when the wife was out of town and clicked on a link that led me to Reaction Innovations baits. While at first I was disappointed it has been worth it. I kid I was looking for a message board

Would you go?
I would not go to the Olympics even if they were in the states. They make Fifa look legit.

Whats your strategy to find tournament winning fish?
Most of the tournaments that I fish are on the Ohio river. We all know the water and everyone from the ramps go for the same spots. We do as well to a certain degree. However we have mapped points and structures over the years that look like we are fishing in the middle of nowhere. I also dumb down my approach. I keep enough lures on to cover the various depths where we fish. The more time that you are changing baits the less time a bait is the water. My partner fishes the front of the boat and I fish the back. If we are beating the bank and he has a jig tied on I usually have carolina rig on and i am fishing away from the bank in 10 feet of water. If he is burning crankbaits I am fishing spinnerbaits buzzbaits or swim jigs. I always try to fish the same speed as him just different baits. If he starts killing them then I might switch. If I start killing them then I make him switch. We fish team events and we don't have ego's on tournament days. That is for practice days and when we rotate front of the boat. Most of all we have fun. We enjoy each others company and are not afraid to get skunked looking for the big kicker.

When Bassmaster event comes to town, is there a chance to meet & greet with the pros?
Usually on the final day if you get as close to their boat with yours and sit there and yell at them all day they will start talking to you. Just kidding most of the guys are nice as can be just don't mess with them before or while they are fishing people forget that this is their job
-
If you can't beat 'em, join 'em?
I would also bet money that they will win 10 less games during the regular season. There are only so many shots per game

What kind of snake is this?
I love those snakes as well. I have caught many in my day. However on occasion there was a guy at my river lot that was messing with it by throwing sticks and rocks at it. It ticked me off as these snakes keep away the mice, rats and copperheads. So I went over and caught it. I was pinching it behind its head and it had its mouth wide open. This drunk decided to stick his thumb in its mouth. I must have accidentally lost grip pressure and it clamped down on his thumb. Well he decided to pull it out real fast. It was funny watching him bleed like a stuck pig. Needless to say the snake stayed a few more seasons and he never came back.

Been a rough week
First off I am thankful that my family and friends are safe and sound. Many of my friends lost their houses and businesses this last week. I was out of town until Monday and when I went and saw with my own eyes the devastation that the floods caused to my state, my friends and my family all I could do was cry. But these were not only happy tears but tears of pride as I watch neighbors and strangers alike grab a shovel, grab a chainsaw and get to work. I have lived all over this country and a couple of others but I am proud to call West by God Virginia my home.
