Agreed I own a silver max , and 8 revo's . In the long run the revo feels like it will hold up better than the silver max but the drag on the silver max feels the same as the revo s. At the very least get the silver max.

WEll I'm finally getting out Saturday . It is supposed to be 62 degrees and windy. The lake temp is 36. I plan to try to fish the rip rap of the dam and a couple of places where points with cover drop right into 25 foot creek channel. Plan to drag a big jig and pig and maybe a 4 inch worm. Also plan to try rougue around the rip rap. Does this sound like a good plan. I dont have alot of experience fishing water this cold. I know i have to fish reall slow . So what would you try??

My buddy uses this reel and really likes it. i cast it a few times and for the money seemed like a nice reel.

Thats what I was getting at. I didnt know if maybe just making sure it runs for a few seconds was bad or not.

I see alot of people at the ramp starting there boat before putting it in the water. Does it hurt to just make sure it starts before launching???

I only buy the All Stars made in Texas and Loomis rods but I will admit the GT40x for the money feels as good as any rod out there. They have all the different actions in the store.

You cant go wrong with a 783 . I throw worms and jigs on them and I love them.

Hmm... I would be leery. I suspect it's "worth" about what you pay. "On Sale" when something has never been "for sale" isn't much of "a sale". BPS markets most of their in-house rods the same way. I never consider them on sale, just overpriced when they are not! :-/ Kinda sounds like most Shimano reels to me. Kidding just kidding.
