  1. Congratulations. I'm happy for you.................enjoy it to its fullest extent!
  2. Thanks..............I believe he has himself squared away since that post.
  3. Mmmmmmmaybe I will. But that's a ways down the list.
  4. Yeah........but he can never find the time to fish!
  5. I know you guys know this, but, wearing a PFD and tethering your kill switch to your vest (or somewhere on your person) is for that one time that things go unexpectedly wrong. They are meant to save lives at that moment. Because if we knew that something bad was about to happen then we would stop before it did. Everybody is a big boy/girl.......do what you want regarding PFD's......it's your life. Personally I wear mine all the time since buying it (after my avatar pic). I have watched too many local news reports with the families struggling and hoping while the authorities try to find their missing loved one. I wear mine so if nothing else, they find my body quickly and spare my family that anguish. But.......kill switch lanyard? PLEASE connect that to the boat operator. Because if you don't, and you are ejected from your vessel.......it can continue to run and result in tragedy for some innocent person or persons.....man, woman or child. Now stepping down from my soap box.
  6. Bill Dance, Jimmy Houston, Shaw Grigsby.........there are several I like. Mostly for their personable ways. Tommy Biffle.....he's a local and I know his cousin......so kind of a more personal connection there.
  7. When does a prop need to be replaced or reconditioned? What do you look for to make the determination?
  8. Looks like macmichael has obtained lodging. How is everyone else sitting? Is your cabin full? Do you need a bed? Post here and finish getting your trip details completed or your cabin filled. I have one twin available. If you haven't committed to attend the 2014 Bass Resource Road Trip.......Do it now! It's a blast and you have a great time! Last year was me and my wife's first year and we went for 5 days......arrived on Wednesday and departed on Monday. My wife and I had such a great time that this year she and I are going for 7 days! She and I will arrive 2 days early on Monday and depart the next Monday.
  9. Generally, IMHO, you get what you pay for. There is the occasional deal or steal.......but the more you pay, generally the better condition the boat will be in to begin with. I am into my 3 year on my first owned boat. When I bought my boat I put in close to $750 the first weekend I bought the boat.....PFD's, required saftey equipment, oar, boat cover, motor cover, ect. then wanted to update my electronics and trolling motor........now my electronics alone cost 50% of what I paid for my boat. I bought a 2001 procraft 185 pro for $7200 3 years ago. knock on wood I have had no major issues. replaced the starter, plugs and fuel bulb last year in addition to having someone work on the finish patching little chips in the fiberglass. I keep my boat outside in the winter after winterizing it. hopefully next winter I will have a carport in place to put under.....still covered but it will help keep the direct sun off the cover and the snow too. Also, don't forget the trailer......maintain your bearings, tires and lights too! Remember insurance is a cost too as is registration fees. I just finished recarpeting my boat....$400+ and we did all of the work. Also.....I think it is time to replace the water pump. I have come to learn that if it is related to boats then it will be costly. B.O.A.T. Bust out another thousand.....................is not far from wrong.
  10. Just a reminder....... 3 Days Left to make your cottage reservations at Doublehead Resort for the 2014 Roadtrip. You must make your reservation by Feb. 28th. Room availability cannot be guaranteed after March 1st. Note that a $120 deposit is required. If you need any help with your room reservation, send a PM to Alpster with a phone number where you can be reached. You'll have a great time! And post out here if you have any space available in your cabin. We have 2 more couples signed up and at least one couple is looking for a cabin to share. Let's extend that Bass Resource friendliness and helpfulness!
  11. Looking forward to meeting you two.
  12. AUTOMATIC ........you might be unconscious and unable to deploy a manual PFD.
  13. Anyone have any room in their cabins at doublehead for macmichael and his wife?
  14. C'mon.............sound off folks!
  15. How 'bout it y'all? Any available space in your cabin for the road trip? All I have left is one twin bed.......ain't gonna cut it.
  16. Thanks and I agree.....always hated the seat. Put in the gray seats last year. Gotta keep 3 seats........wife and always go with me. I'm too much of a skeerdy cat to take sand paper to my boat.......would have to pay local shop and they quoted 600+ to do that. I do like your suggestions though.
  17. Anyone have any room in their cabins at doublehead?
  18. He must be in recovery somewhere.
  19. Nope......not for a day or so.
  20. One Open twin sized bed available for the road trip. Give me a shout (PM) if you are interested.
  21. Hypothetically...........I'm on and off the site all day at work.......then on again in the evenings. I'm probably on at least as much as you are most days.........but I could spend my time in much worse ways and company!
  22. Rib Crib BBQ Supper for 4 last night. Clamps to help with recarpeting of boat hatches. More clamps for recarpeting. Still more clamps. Lowrance HDS 9 Touch. Unfortunately there is a lot more stuff that I have had to buy.
  23. Glad to hear it. You'll have a great time!
  24. Finally finished up the recarpeting of my boat. Cost was 398.00 for carpet ( 8'x30' ) and 2 gal of adhesive. Took 1 gal and 1 qt of adhesive. I had a quart of adhesive so 1 gal is unopened. Spent about $80 on clamps at harbor freight tools. Could have done it without the additional clamps but would have taken 9 days to recarpet the hatch lids instead of 2. Also bought new heavy duty scraper $10 and pet clippers $24 to trim the carpet hairs. I will be plucking them carpet hairs forever it feels like. Had plenty of scrap wood around to help with clamping and putting pressure on the carpet while drying. I had to use the pet shears to trim the carpet down almost to the backing so I would not need a mallet to drive the trolling motor foot pedal tray into place. Everything put back on the boat except I didn't screw down the trolling motor foot deal tray yet. Not too bad but would not want to do this in the summer! Although some of the pics the carpet looks like the carpet grain is going in the wrong direction......but it's not. Just the ay the light is hitting it or the way I vacuumed the carpet.
